Lets stop the whole, why cant resorts charge me next to nothing for skiing, or why cant I hike and ski Killington for free when I wont give them a dime during regular season type threads. We get it, your cheap and feel your entitled to special deals.

I said it in another thread, its stupid how everyone is critical of resorts for trying to maximize the money in their pockets when your trying to do the exact same thing by hiking Kmart to ski their snowmaking for free, or being critical of a legitimate mtn (ala Stowe) charging the most in the east.

Is skiing, its always been expensive. Its November, youll get out soon, so chill the F out.

I just noticed your post count...was this your 666th?;-)

People will always complain about the cost...the way I usually look at it is if I don't feel like I'm getting my money's worth, I just go somewhere else.

No Im saying its a bad idea when everyone starts demanding and being critical, when there are legitimate reasons for what the resorts are doing. Whether it be liability (which is a huge aspect as seen in last years ruling in the Summit at Squalomine (sp?) verdict), increased energy costs, et all. Every thread so far hasnt been a simple Q and A session, its been more like a question being asked, then everyone demanding more for less because they think they deserve it. How is my attitude about the holier than thou BS any different than those getting all worked up cause they cant ski Killington for free right now?

So, your saying that anyone who ends up plunking down 2 grand a year for a resort area is cheap bastards? Families in the area that have plopped down more then 4 grand in past years so their kids could ski are cheap bastards. Oh, not just cheap, but should just shut up.

I think it's all good, I haven't seen anyone yet say something along the lines of 'Shut the F**k up!' when trying to talk about it..

Oh, wait..

Times infinity...many of us on here run/own business's and we need to make a profit and reduce the risk of lawsuits..the ski resorts are the same...

These silly debates will all soon be over once everyone gets out and skis. After yesterday, I have no interest in even entering the fray...

I have to agree. First off I am sick of hearing about is Killington, is the place even worth all the debates? I have never been to the place and probably never will.

These boards are set up for people to discuss what we all love to do, that is skiing. So what if it costs an extra $10/day. Is that really going to stop you? How about the add'l $20/day on gas, food etc.. The cost of living in general is through the roof. I also spend a lot of time on another board about boating. That website was recently sold to a big company. Luckily it did because all it turned into for a while was people bitshing and moaning about everything- price of fuel, maintenance and so on.

The two things I love to do are skiing and boating/fishing. My father told me this when I bought a boat "if you are going to bitsh and moan about prices and costs related then don't do it. Boat=break out another thousand." I kind of feel the same way with skiing. It has nothing to do with your econmic status. If you can't afford to go to one area over another then do that. I had a season pass for years at Stowe because of College, now I ski at Jay. The $600 pass at Jay is more realistic than the $1400 at Stowe. I still do have my few days a year I ski at Stowe, but now I limit them. Just like the boat, I did notice this summer that I did use it a bit less than last year. The $300 price tag when filling it up had something to do with it, that was on the trailer.

If you want to save money then buy lower quality gear, ski on deal days, don't go to the Stowes/K-marts, Ski 1st to last Chair, etc....

^^^^^^^^

Thank god someone gets it. I cant understand how everyone here just complains about price, especially right now when the season is just getting started. Snow is falling. Whats with all the bitching? People are out there getting some in the Ravines in November, cant remember that happening ever in my skiing career. You gotta pay to play no matter what, and skiing has never been cheap. Frankly Id pay double what I do now, cause riding brings way more excitement than anything else I could spend my money on.

I don't tend to mix $$ with skiing either...

I wouldn't consider saving $10 to ski a crappy hill...
I wouldn't consider going to a crappy hill for less crowds either...

I know what I like...

It's the biggest resort in the east and the new owners seem to suck.. it's what people are talking about on the forums. get over it. Go hike, read a book..
Your rant is infinity times more annoying to me than a post about a ski resort positive or negative. Take your own advice.

Well, I don't want everyone to shut up.

And since I'm the pot stirrer I can't plead the fifth on getting folks riled up.

But I agree with AdironRider.

Where were you folks who also agree this past Spring when I was going off about not understanding the welfare state mentality towards ticket prices?

I for one have done little bitching over the new ownership, but I do not like what they are doing to this point. However I disagree with AdironRider, if people don't like something they should be as vocal as possible about it, especially if they believe an injustice is being done. Overall in these times, I am seeing too much of this complacent mentallity forming:
