Depends, when I'm by myself I'm usually there for 1st chair or there about's. When skiing with others usually a bit later. Then there are the 2 weekends Da Boyz ski together, one early season, one late season. We're lucky to be there by the crack of noon.

Update. Yes, still stick to first chair, unless it is a spring day and temps are going to warm up, then I wait until the snow softens. I was consistently getting first chair at Mount Ellen my years there. At Snowbird if I am solo I will aim for first tram. It is worth it. First tracks, great snow, have a good time, and go home after lunch.

First chair is nice but not absolutely necessary. As long as I have a few runs before the busses unload I'm happy.

I'll get first tracks on a powder day, any other day as long as I'm there before the chairs turn I'm happy. More about parking than anything else.
