When I hit the lottery I'm gonna buy a Happy Light and a big bottle of bourbon, throw the shovel in the garbage can and move to South Carolina, thank you very much. Then I'll fly up every Monday night to race with Bob and the boys at Pat's and come back for golf/hiking season......

I love all you folks on here, but anybody that says they prefer snow, dark and cold to warmth and summertime is completely crazy.......

I oughta slap you around! Next time I see you remind me to buy ya a hot chocolate to warm your precious little footsies... ;)

I guess I'm crazy by your definiton, ok by lots of peoples', give me sideways snow anyday! What the hell good can come from the heat anyway?

Obviously your first mistake is not having consumed enough beer to need the ski jacket.

I'll meet you at the bar for Friday happy hour and we'll see who's the amateur.....

Brian - you obviously have not been getting enough sleep since the the arrival of your new little bundle of joy, so I'm not listening to anything you have to say for at least 6 more months.

Dude - the only thing sideways about you is your ski technique....... :D

OK, Call me crazy...I still grill thoughout the darkness...AND it's a great reason to hit the sack with the wife early...life is like a box of chocolates...

Dude - same here. Doesn't matter the temp. All winter, 3-4 nights per week, I'm standing out at the grill under the eaves of my porch in my ski jacket with a beer in one hand and a flashlight in the other trying not to burn some piece of meat to a cinder. I need to have some warm-weather activity even in the middle of winter.

Ummmm, as far as jumping into bed early with the wife.......a fine idea. I'll have to get back to you on that one.......

 Good one..

Before Fall rolled in tonight I was in the pool in the 83 degree water. I will be closing it on Sunday. Even with a solar heating panel & solar cover, the cold nights are going to take a toll on the water's temperature.

I took some pictures today of some mums and another fall plant in bloom. They are a little early this year. Last year these bloomed the Friday of the Columbus Day weekend. These are all on the north side (back) of the house. The ones in the front which get more sun have no buds yet.

How did I miss this? boxers beer and fire. I love winter cook outs. That is my Friday and Sat Agenda all winter long. I like using charcoal on the weekends. It slows the process down the food taste better. I start a fire in the grate, barbaque on the grill and I don't have to chill my beer. Happy

38 deg F on my car thermometer this morning on my way in to work @ 6:30....

As my car heater kicked on I had a grin from ear to ear.

We're approaching the final streches of the bleak and dismal off season.

It's a good thing the foliage is slow coming. With this wind, the leaves would be over by Ski-Resort-Observer's for him to rake up and bring back to us. The clouds just opened up bigtime. It is pouring now.

(for non-winter hikers, anyhow)

Get a dog that loves the outdoors... then there's never an off-season. Me thinks the woodshop will give birth to a handmade dogsled. Got the plans, now I just need the time.

The weather station in my kitchen changes color based ont eh outside temperature. It was blue (below 50) for the first time this morning. Happy sign. It was 49.7 when I took the dog out, 50.0 when I came back in, and hit 50.1 (and changed to yellow) as I made coffee. Actually wore a fleece for the morning walk today.

Come on, Winter!

37 degrees at 8 am Saturday morning when I took the dog for our weekly hike. I almost stopped to dig my winter hat out of my pack, but just decided to run for a mile or so to warm up. I love those cold mornings.

That's cool, what kind of weather station do you have?
