Ah yes, A-Basin. They must be gearing up for snowmaking pretty soon. It's that time of year for the Loveland vs. A-Basin snowmaking battle to begin!

I snapped some even better pics today hiking off LL pass-will post tomorrow. Ten-Mile/mosquito range looked even whiter!

I saw pictures the other day of the guns all setup and ready to go at A-Basin. It's getting close!

Where I was hiking there was not that much snow but looking west the cental ranges looked like they picked up a good bit. Also when I drove by grays/torreys (14ers) they looked pretty white.

They're lucky to have a nice short off season.

no doubt

As much as I love New England, I do get very jealous of that fact. The one summer I spent out in CO, I was hiking for a couple hundred vert of turns on 8/17

Yeah there wouldn't be any snow left @ a-basin today, it was just a dusting yesterday in that area. The central mountains are a whole different story though. I may have to check it out today.

There was still some decent patches of last years snow above chair 4 and other various spots on the ridge as I drove by Loveland yesterday.

I'm the same way. I love New England and upstate NY too. I love Colorado and am very jealous of my buddy who moved out there a couple years ago and sends me emails and pics when he goes out early season. Dirty rat bastard! At least we can visit every now and then. Wish it was closer. Even if it was a 15 hour drive we would drive it several times. Too much of a pain in the ass to fly out with equipment several times a season...

There are several things i love about New England but come winter I have zero regrets. You need to go to Co/Utah/Tahoe wherever in the dead of winter like mid Jan/Feb when the crowds are few and the snow soft. Rent a car for ten days sleep in shitty motels booked last minute on hotwire and just set up where its happening-good times.

someday

heck, I'd be happy with three nights in Denver with three days in Loveland if I could swing it.
