1st snow that I know of at our condo in Colorado this morning. Devil season starts tonight. 2 little steps toward the new season.

Snowing now and all morning on the Wasatch Back. My wife (kindergarten teacher in Park City) says the kids are going crazy. Good luck controlling that!

As for the Devils, it sure is going to be odd getting used to 5pm and 5:30pm starts!

New Yorkers and the North East could be in for a more snowy winter due to a increasingly strong El Niño brewing in the Pacific Ocean, according to a new long-range forecast

Getting used to for sure but I think I may enjoy Happy Hour and the Devils after skiing. Might be nice to have the games over by 7:30, maybe even pre dinner. Just got to figure out the best way to stream or places that might show the games.

ESPN+ airs both home and away broadcasts of pretty much every NHL game

Streaming out of market games is much easier. No worrying about games being blacked out.

@urungus is correct that ESPN+ is the way, by my count it will cover all but six Devils games this season. Those six are three on TNT, two on ESPN, and on on ABC, and I get all of those with XFINITY, so I'm covered for all 82 Devils games.

I got in on the AMEX package for 1 year of ESPN+, Hulu, and Disney+ for $7.50 per month, but that's a steal even at the regular price of $15 a month considering that I used to pay $150 a season just for NHL Center Ice by itself. But ESPN+ should get you the vast majority of Devils games, the only negative is that there will be some where you have to listen to the away team's feed, but I generally find that interesting anyway, especially the occasional random commercials from Columbus, OH, Phoenix, AZ, etc..... that they fail to black out.

Alright. Give me a week from today for snowmaking tests and the beginning of the hype train. Killington and SR open on November 3rd or 4th.

"Major Snow Storm" Forecasted To Rip Through North American West Next Week

Cold pattern to last into November in the Northeast!

It's the middle of October and skiers have been impatiently waiting for the snow to "really" start falling for weeks. We've seen a few dustings, but the first true blast of winter has eluded the majority of us thus far.

Thankfully, our friends at Direct Weather are forecasting the potential for a "major" snow storm to develop at the tail end of next week out west.

MJ, you realize that Direct Weather is a 23 year old guy that is basically scanning all the other weather reports and cherry picking the best case senerios right? He gets a ton of flack about his sensationalism and using the words Major or extreme all the time. Nope I put him in the same category as skiology Matt. Can't be trusted. for new england I watch Tim Kelley, Scott Braaten or a couple of other experienced New England guys.

At this point I will add a grain of salt to his weather forecasts as I do most forecasts lol. I do like the longer range temps
at the end of the month for more Northern areas. Should be some good Snowmaking windows.
