Narrower trails usually have better natural bumps because they require tighter turns and people aren't skiing across the fall line and screwing up the troughs. That said, when down to a few trails at season's end, you're probably a lot more likely to get an unobstructed run on a highway like Superstar than if everyone were funneled into some classic NE trail.

Sugarloaf would like a lot of people to make it to Maine for spring skiing but .... no one seems to be willing to make the trek so they are closing with the most snow.

I wonder how much keeping Sunday River open until Saturday cannibalized their business at Sugarloaf.

I bet if you asked Boyne pass holders, 9 out of 10 would have preferred SR not opening this past weekend if it meant extending Sugarloafs season to the 10th.

What makes you say that? Yes I know they draw somewhat separate clientele, but when I was a pass holder and primarily skied SR, every pass holder I knew would ski the Loaf after SR closed for the season.

I think there is some truth to "separate clientele" but i also think that SR is closer to many outside of ME and as a result many may day trip SR. I know I would if I was a Boyne pass holder. SR 2.5 hours driving and SL 4.5 hours driving.

Sure, but the difference from their two largest markets, Cumberland County Maine and Boston is only 45 minutes.

From Boston - I get it. Non pass holders are considered in spring skiing and with Killington being open and less than three hours away skiing SR or SL is probably a second option. Then there was Wildcat which is also more than an hour less driving and Jay Peak which is slightly less.
