Going out on a limb here... any sober skiers/boarders

I've noticed alot of threads referring to having a drink, a smoke, etc, and I was wondering if there were any sober skiers (aka Friends of Bill) around.
I guess I've given up my anonymity, but not too many other ways to find out.

I've skied under the influence once. And I will never ever do it again. Its not worth the risk or embarrassment. Now apres is another story....

Used to meet regularly w/ a bunch of Bill's friends. Definitely do not drink & ride. (any more!) Still enjoy a couple in the evening.:beer:

Never when I ski but after a good day on the slopes, there's nothing better than a pint of the local draft. I always make it a point to have a brew that's made for the mountain -- Single Chair Ale at MRG, Tram Ale at Jay. Aside from that, I make it a point to be stone cold sober on the mountain. Have to be alert. For that matter, I don't even put in Ipods in my ear. Too distracting.

One day at a time

I've been a friend of Bill's for 8 years now. I have to admit I do miss the evenings after skiing , you know that great 2 drink feeling when everybody is funny and good looking? What I don't miss is coming to at 4:30 a.m. naked on the bathroom floor in a pool of my own vomit (truly sorry for the imagery), or feeling like crap the first three runs of the day. Plus now I have money for other things .... like food and gasoline.

Have I ever skied a little screwed up? Sure, back in the day. Totally sober nowadays. Skiing is enough of a rush for me. Apres? Doesn't everybody?

Yeah, I know what you mean. Some of these guys play it up a bit while others definitely enjoy their brew. Don't let their alcaholic tendencies disapoint you, most of them are still ok. I, on the other hand, enjoy a strong chocolate milk and a good day of skiing.

Never drank and skied before but I would imagine 1 beer at lunch or something wouldn't have too much of an effect. There truly is nothing worse than waking up at 7 AM hungover with 3 hours of sleep to go skiing though. At least until you get out on the hill and the hangover seems to disappear

I drink beer frequently for lunch, usually 2 quick pints. I know this sounds absurd, but it really gets me in a groove. I don't ever ski drunk, but I also dare to think for myself.

I never drink during the hours of 8am to 3pm. At all other times all bets are off. As far as being under the influence on the slopes - never during open hours but it does happen other times every now and again.

hmm i think i know what you mean and if so, good on ya. But no i dont drink and ski. I drink occassionally at other times, sometimes in a bit of excess, but not skiing.

I never ski under the influence of anything. However, a beer or two after is nice. Only a couple because there is no better high than a good ski run. I'd rather get up early and feel good the next day.

I have quite a few friends that are a friend of Bill "Dubbs" and a few that need to be introduced to him.

I say cool.. Whatever keeps you going - you gotta do..
I recognize my tendency for that kinda thing to run in my family so I take measures to keep from falling into the trap...

that being said - I don't really like drinking while I ride.. It's way too numbing for me..

Oh...we've both passed through Wharfrat meetings on the way to the bathroom between sets, Doug. I know you got it. I just made that statement because I don't think this thread was going in the direction that Sheik intended it to.
