anyone have a recommendation?

I basically need a ski that can go everywhere, but mostly it needs to be able to rip at various turn lengths/speed on the hard pack PLUS it needs to be fun in the bumps. I don't get to ski powder that much, nor do I enjoy trees that much, but I do ski both occasionally, so something 70mm+ under foot would be nice. A modified-twin tip would be an added bonus. Anyone have anything they love or have heard good things about?

I enjoyed Head iSupershape Magnums I demoed at Mt. Snow in December a lot. Not sure how they would ski all over the mountain though, as I only got to take them for a few runs down groomers.

I have been skiing on Nordica SUV14s for the last 3 seasons, which became the Nordica Gransport 14s, I believe. I also ski Mambas in the bumps, but have had issues with the choreography of 2 pairs of skis, and havent used them as much as I thought they would.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I have a pair of 4frnt msp that works perfect as an all-mountain ski. 4frnt makes a very rugged ski-not easy to break, are very light and cheaper than your average ski. Also the stl is a fun ski, just a bit softer.

Volkl AC30 or 40?

Lots of good deals on ebay right now

I have the ac40 and they are a great ski. They can rail the hard pack and venture into the woods. Powder they are fine but they try and bite the hard pack underneath. Bumps i guess they are ok. I always make it through and people say I look fine but I feel like a bull in a china shop.

K-2 recons are another quality ski if you want a slightly softer ride. a

I have the Head Monster iM75 and love them. Nice and stiff on trail...and manageable in bumps and trees. I doubt that they make the same ski...I think it was replaced with the 77 model. The Railflex is awesome.

Not much of a bump ski, but I got them in 170 length which allows me to turn pretty quick. Great on hardpack and ice, no speed limit as well though the short length limits a bit.

I agree with Kingslug that the AC30/40 are not good skis to be skiing bumps in. If you are looking for a twintip that is beefy enough to still make a solid turn at decent speeds you should consider the TroubleMaker. It's a good bump ski but you can still get on it when you want to and it will make a decent turn on hardpack. You can also consider the Volkl Bridge which I skied at Cannon a few weeks ago. I didn't get an opportunity to ski it in the bumps but there is no metal in the ski so it should be pretty good and it was really easy to turn.

Hi jbr,
Hey I haven't posted them here on AZ, but I have some skied on for ~6hrs Nomad Crimsons..169s, mounted of course..with their system binding.. They're 86mm underfoot.
I've forgotten the exact link address but goto my generic webshots directory and you can find/see the Nomad Crimson Album. I haven't skied the Public Enemy but from what I hear...these are a tad softer, but pretty solid underfoot and with much better "Atomic" edgegrip...and have pretty good pop for an 86mm ski. They're terrific on the patches of hardpack one comes across. The extremely crusty surface outside resort territory is what I/we end up doing up in the boonies, thus I went to a burly twintip..

...Fwiw...

I demoed the Nomad Crimsons and liked them a lot. I'm going with the Head Monster 88s, but the Nomads were my second choice. Had fun with both. Conditions were generally powder up top with some heavier snow/crud mixing in toward the bottom.

I demoed Crimson vs Head magnums and went for the Magnums. A very versatile ski for the East, stable, great at a variety of turns and a good edge. Skied them all winter , no regrets.Best for the heavier skier.
