Gary, have you tracked your route to work and back yet so you can download it and play?
not yet. played with it a bit last night before going to bed to get a feeling for how it worked but haven't read the manual (probably won't until i get stuck) or installed the software on my PC yet. i have to run around town tonight so i think i'll take it with me then.

Gary, we are actually using Topofusion to DL/UL our tracks instead of the software that came with it(I think it has to do with converting to gpx files so you can use the stuff on Crankfire). We are just using the demo version which is free.

The problem with the Mapsource is it doesn't like when you try to use it to download an existing track from Crankfire and upload it to the GPS. It works fine going the other way. Topofusion is the way to go though.

Jeff, can you please give more advice?
Does the Vista have ODO type readings as well, or strictly GPS?

They have trip computers, but I don't know whether they take elevation changes into account. Once you bring a track into Topofusion and/or upload it to Crankfire, you can see also distances and I think it takes elevation into account since the distance usually differs from the trip computer. The nice thing about the Vista is the true altimeter and digital compass. You get a bit cleaner elevation profiles than my Legend which estimates elevation based on satellite triagulation which actually still works pretty good too.

The Vista does graph out the elevation of the track that I did and can scroll through it on it if that is what you are asking.

It sounds like the Vista is the one to have if you want to use it for skiing as well as mt biking.
A cheap Bike Computer can take up the slack if I want the ODO readings.

It does keep track of mileage, mph average, moving time, standing time, uphill, and on topofusion it will lit incline decline miles and a bunch of other stats.

If you want download the free Topofusion and then open one of our gpx tracks from Crankfire that we post to sample what it can do.
