Good Rebound

After Mondays deluge I was really doubting this past weekends skiing. What a pleasant surprise. Camelback on Saturday was great. They had blown on every trail since the cold had returned and gotten some natural as well. Good bumps on Lower Cleo and after flatting Asp Tuesday and blowing fresh cover Friday night new moguls being skied in. On Sunday I experienced the best conditions I have ever skied at Blue Mt. The moguls on Challange and the new trail (sorry don't know the name) were alot of fun but Barney's was awesome. Great job by both these Pocono areas for providing one of the best weekends so far. Years ago Monday would have killed us but its amazing what they can do now. Just thinking if we can muster some natural snow how good the skiing will be entering the spring.

I don't think so, but I got clocked on a radar gun at 32mph. It would have been faster, but I got cut off by an out of control snowboarder right before I got clocked. That's plenty of wind-chill speed right there

I knocked down my first boarder ever yesterday. It was entirely my fault, I felt pretty bad, as I was overtaking. It was worse because it was a young lady who thought she was at fault.

i was at pico this past weekend, everything that was open was in great shape, they made some snow, but as soon as u went into the ungroomed trails its was frozen chunks of ice, but i thought they did a good job of rebounding

Mt. Snow did a great job. It was hard to tell just 6 days earlier it had rained like crazy. The conditions yesterday were excellent.

Very little scratch, the snow was fast, there was quite a good deal of packed powder....It looked like a big difference from the pics Euler posted last Wednesday. I've said it before...those fan guns put out a good product. I'm sure the cold temps helped a bit too.

I apologized profusely and stopped to help. We were on the flats, and my bud reminded me that she was probably pissed because she had lost all her momentum. Double bad me.

Hmm, either I found a little more scratch than you Glenn...or I need to get my edges sharpened...probably some combo of the two. Also, probably didn't help that I spent the first half of the week skiing fresh snow out West.

But overall, I agree, they did a very good job getting the mountain back into shape. Despite the limited ice I found, I would never have guessed it was anything other than a normal, mid-winter day of high-ish skier volume. Would not have guess a major rain storm had just hit, that's for sure.

If it makes you feel better I had a snowboarder ride across the tips of my skis while stopped at the top of the mountain. Since the skis were old and I was about to go the the Summit lodge, I had a sense of humor about it. He collapsed in a heap, so helped him up and helped him get momentum started to get to the green trail he was trying to get to. We were all beginners once.

Hidden Valley in Jersey did a good job recovering too. There were a couple of icy spots on Friday night but by Sunday the conditions were very good, especially for Jersey.

Yeah, we continue to get late starts (not my doing!) and even lost a skier to a hangover day on Sunday...but we found the Canyon trails to be pretty decent. North Face was the slickest...but again, this may have been my skis and the time of day as much as anything.

All in all, it was v. enjoyable.

I was at Pat's Peak on Saturday night. One of the oddest experiences at a ski area I've ever had. Packed full of newbies (no suprise given their $39 ticket + rentals deal), but the conditions were much better than I expected.

They'd been making snow on the FIS Race Trail for I guess the entire day, but yet NO-ONE, and I mean NO-ONE was on it. We thought we had poached it by mistake the first time we went down it. Ton's of fresh manmade snow on it. It was a blast. So bizarre that no-one else touched it. We had fresh tracks everytime!

We took Challenger up and in the AM, the trail looked good. I say give your edges a good sharpening and you'll be all set.

We've been getting out earlier this season and it makes a huge difference. If you do it right, you can get a TON of runs in by lunch time. The Saturday we did first tracks, we had double digits in by lunch.
