Curious.......what was the inspiration for the name?

Apparently some folks aren't fans.

So I was on the high peaks chair last January and saw some kid huck it. It was a line I've taken the chair lift over dozens (hundreds?) of times and never knew it was possible to ski until I saw this kid do it.

Anyway, I said right then I have to do it so I got near the top of it and looked down and said "no f-ing way." This was the first line in the East that I ever wussed out of.
And there is only one other trail I have ever said that about in that situation, which was Corbit's Couloir in Jackson Hole during a weak snow year.

Then I put two and two together and at that moment somehow the name Gore-Bits Couloir came to me.
Sorry, but I think it's kind of catchy.

Now you all may laugh but I really think there are some similarities to the two trails. Both have a fully committed 10 or so foot drop to start with and then you quickly gain speed and have to do some quick manuvering to avoid disaster. But if you do it correctly you're a hero.

If you are the sort of guy who takes photos while you are skiing, I would love to see another pic of this line!

(From the lift is perfectly acceptable ;) )

That line looks so good. There's so many great cliffs under lifts in the northeast but they all go to flat landings. This landing looks pitched and perfect. I wanna go.

Son and grandson ,great day making memories !

It's what it's all about, glad your family had fun together at Gore. With a 19yr old Grandson, sounds like there may be four generations of "Warps" skiing together soon. Hang in there old man!;)
