Hopefully, something will get worked out and Greek Peak will get the refinancing.
I heard in the past that the owner of Greek, tried originally to get a loan form the Tennessee bank (that was closed by the FDIC), to build an 18 hole golf course & hotel/lodge. But the Tennessee bank was not willing to finance the golf course hotel... but said they would finance an Indoor Waterpark Hotel/Lodge combination.
If Greek Peak were not open for skiing, I would have to ski at Elk Mountain in Northern PA, the next closest for me.
Probably 400 of those employees are part time ski instructors.
Sad. Just what we don't need. Another NELSAP.
And as slow as Greek's lifts are, you could probably get as many runs in a day. Supposedly they say they will open this season. FDIC is providing funds while restructuring is going on. I hope so, they have $600 of my hard earned money. But NELSAP = free powder!

You can earn turns for free in lots of places. Once you lose a ski area, you'll never get a replacement thanks to environmental/zoning/etc regulations and startup costs. Revelstoke is the only new one I've heard of that's new. And that's in the "sticks", which may explain approvals.
Judge Margaret Cangilos-Ruiz earlier this month approved a motion scheduling the auction at the ski resort’s lawfirm in Syracuse. A hearing on any potential sale resulting from the auction has been set for March 21 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Syracuse.
Platty owner could buy Greek.![]()
