Date Skied: 3/28/10

Resort or Ski Area: Gunstock, Gilford, NH

Conditions: Groomed Granular/Hardpack AM, Spring PM. Windy and brisk, cloudy before about 11 AM or so.

Trip Report: Had a really good spring skiing day at Gunstock. All of the natural trails and glades were closed as expected, but the coverage on the groomers was quite good despite all of the NCP and warm temps we've had over the past several weeks. Trails were edgeable hardpack in the morning but quickly softened once they had some sun exposure. The mountain wasn't entirely empty but there were no lines and there was plenty of space on the trails.

We skied from 9:45 AM until about 1:30 PM. The snow was getting a little sticky at the end, could have used some wax on the bases.

Gunstock is planning on being open next weekend...should still have some decent coverage.

One big plus for the day was seeing my wife ski just about all of the trails that I did, including a few blacks...she's made a lot of progress this season and she's been able to join me on a lot more trails which is great.

Thanks for writing this report Hammer. My daughter and I were there (armed with fresh wax!) from 10am right until close, and other than the usual choke points above the Tiger/Ramrod area, everything was still skiing pretty well at the end of the day. They closed for a few days during the week preceding to let things drain, looks like a good move. I'm not usually a Gunstock fanboy but this was one of my more enjoyable spring days for sure.
