Resort: Gunstock - Gilford, NH

Conditions:
Packed Powder, 2 inches of fresh on top.

Report:
Another fantastic day on the hill, with very little crowds. Arrived up at the house around noon on NYE, where I took my 5 year old out on the Magic Carpet again where he really made a lot of improvement over last year! He is almost at the point of linking turns. In two weeks, when we are back up there, I will get him some formal 1 on 1 lessons - so he can get on the lower mountain lifts. But man was he loving it! After his hour or so with me on the carpet, I decided to take one quick run from the top. Man was it skied off, and the crowds were nuts. Called it a night, went home and watched the Dick Clarkless - Dick Clark rocking in the NYE show..

Yesterday morning, I was the first chair up for first tracks on the hill on the first day of the year. Crowds were light, which was great. Plus the additional 2 inches of snow overnight helped big time. They finally opened flintrock, which now brings 3 routes from the top down. All in all a good day on the hill, called it quits around 1ish - just because wife and family wanted to see a movie. All in all a good fast morning session.

Next week brings me back to Mount Snow!

Pics!

The little guy all thumbs up!

I skied Gunstock on 1/7.

I'd skied Gunstock a few years ago & enjoyed it, but it was the end of the season so things were definitely spring-y.
My in-laws have a place in the area now, so we visited with the thought of making Gunstock a place we'd visit often.

Very impressed with how this place is run. Though not 100% open, definitely a rhyme & reason to everything. Snowmaking & tractors busy on a busy Saturday. Snow quality was good - well groomed. Glades look fun when they get enough snow.

Employees all very cheery & friendly. Obvious the leadership here sets that tone.

But man - that view of Winnie from the top of the Panorama quad never gets old. Even some of the vistas as you ski down are simply breathtaking.

Gunstock definitely climbing on me & my family's priority list for visits.
