Date Skied: Monday, 2/25/2008, 9:05AM - 1:50PM
Resort or Ski Area: Hidden Valley, Vernon, NJ
Conditions: Packed Powder, bluebird sky, calm winds, temps - teens in the AM, later - upper 30's
Trip Report: Best conditions I've skiied there all season, the 7 inches of natural we got on Friday with no thaw before today really made the difference with some nice packed powder. Most of the mountain was well groomed but the new owners let the top half of Lower Highland Swing bump up! I was the first customer there today, only a couple of patroller tracks when I hit the trails.
My first run was down Browse Along, a blue cruiser, at 3/4 of a mile it's the longest trail at the mountain. It was groomed but there were intersting hills and double fall lines in spots as if the groomer just rode over some whales instead of pushing them down. Then I proceeded to ski the rest of the trails, with the exception of Chicken Delight, the only green at the area. A bunch of short fast runs down Helenback and Kurly Kue which are the steepest and a bunch of fast cruisers on upper and lower Highland Swing and upper and lower Breakneck. It was such good conditions I really didn't want to leave but I had a few things I had to get done before the wife and kid got home. Just a fun day at the local area, I'm glad it's still open.
