How crowded will it be on monday, Christmas day?

I am planning to go somewhere locally (Catskill's or pocono's).

Are there going to be major crowds? What will be my best bets on christmas monday?

Christmas day is never super packed, but the day thereafter, watch out.

definately....Xmas day, especially in the morning is usually pretty quiet on the slopes. Despite the conditions I think most resorts will be very busy during the holidays. With MRG not open the Bush will not be an exception IMHO For guests to cancel a holiday package is very very expensive so I think most will be here.

Christmas day skiing

I skied Killington three Christmases in in the mid-90s (sadly I don't live near Killington anymore) and it was great. I would arrive around 8:30 am and in the morning there were no lift lines and hardly anyone on the slopes. Mid-morning I would stop at the top bar for an Irish Toboggan (one shot Irish Whiskey, one shot Baileys, hot chocolate topped off with whipped cream) to warm up. Just after lunch the slopes would start to get crowded, and I would head off for Christmas dinner around 3 pm. One thing that was odd was I was the only person on the slopes wearing a red Santa's hat....

it will be the best day of the whole week. light crowds, and the resorts will have the mountain in good shape for the busy week

Not very crowded. Even Hunter should not be very crowded on Christmas day. Same for early morning Jan 1, which is usually not very crowded.

If your an intermediate skier I would consider Windham or Belleayre. Right now Windham has a lot intermediate trails open. If your an expert skier think about Belleayre or Hunter.

The definition of crowded will be a little different than usual. Crowded will not be defined by the length of the lift line at the bottom. Because their is limited number of trails open, the ski areas will now scramble to make snow to be able to open as many chair lifts as possible. This will 'probably' make for more crowded trails than usual.

How dare you ski instead of celebrating Jesus' birthday... we'll see how you like skiing in hell. This thread is yet another example of the ware on Christmas.

I wish my wife would let me out, but it has been made very clear to me that skiing on the 25th is not an option :( ...... ever

War on Christmas? Talk to the retailers and marketers who have turned it into a shopping/buying/spending holocaust. It's ridiculous and it has nothing to do with what Christmas is about. Jesus would send us all to hell if he were here today.

But I'm guessing you're really kidding. I can't think of a better thing to do on Christmas than ski with my family. That's where you'll find all of us on Monday. I don't remember a single thing I've gotten on Christmas...but I vividly remember every detail of the many ski trips I went on with my family over the holidays. And I'll continue that tradition with my family.

I was just doing my best O'Reilly impersonation. Skiing on Christmas is great, used to do it all the time before I got married, now we have a big family get together and turkey dinner instead.

And frankly there is nothing wrong with that either.

Thanksgiving is a personal fav simply because it's just family getting together and having a great meal.
