How has this years early season compared to last years? Before the official start of winter have you skied more days in 2006 or 2007? Have your sessions on average been longer or shorter? For me personal I've skied more days and generally shorter sessions. But I'm also still trying to ease into the season and stay healthy for Jackson Hole. If you have a short minute..answer the poll questions and any comments...

It kind of goes without saying in my case ;) but 2007 is better. Best ever. I don't think I've ever skied in December before.

2007. My outings have been about the same length, but I have more days overall. Also the conditions have been way better.

Same amount of days. Which to me suggests yet another major difference between quantity and quality. Though I must say, late October and early November last year was way better than this year. But this October through December is clearly superior overall, especially considering just how terrible December was last year.

I'm gonna guess I've skied more up until now this year than last. Not really sure on the actual count for either year though...

Today is the second day i've taken off in December, Last year that was nearly impossible. I think no matter where your skiing it is an improvement over last nov-dec. That early season gave me the final push to leave New England. Glad everyone is getting some good stuff.

I'll be out there January 19th to the 28th...It looks like the Hobacks opened today..

Nice, shoot me a pm before you get out here and Ill make some turns with you.

Hobacks did indeed open today and they were good; however, yesterday (as well as the day before) I poached the crap out of them and they were epic....

The entire mtn is skiing incredible right now. 6-8 called for tonight with the possibility of a big one Monday. Should only get better by the time your here.

I think I skied maybe 4 times all last season -- I pretty much wrote off the season. It was the first time my Wachusett Bronze Pass didn't pay for itself.

2006-2007:

Sugarloaf December 9th, first day of the year with 6" of powder leftovers, very icy.
Sunday River December 10th, springlike skiing with some slush in spots.
Sundown December 12th, wet snow and warm weather, thin conditions.
Sunday river December 16-17th, limited snowmaking but decent conditions.
Sundown December 30th, fair to good skiing.

2007-2008:

November 12th, 2007 birthday skiing at Mount Snow. Excellent conditions.
November 23rd, 2007 Whiteface, bad conditions after freezing rain the day before.
November 24-25th, 2007 Sunday River, great conditions with tons of snowmaking.
December 1st, 2007 Whiteface. Good conditions with alot of snowmaking, frigid 8F.
December 2nd, 2007 Sunday River. Great conditions with lots of snowmaking.
December 3rd, 2007 Sunday River. same as December 2nd
December 4th, 2007 Sunday River. 17" of new snow and lots of powder skiing.
December 22nd, 2007 Sunday River. 30" of new snow prior to visit, great glade skiing.

I got in 5 days in December of 2006 partially because we where moving into a new house and also becasue of how warm of a month it was.

In the fall of 2007 ski season I got birthday turns at Mount snow which was the first time I skied on my birthday since Jiminy Peak in 1995. December was great with one big powder day and great skiing overall at sunday River.

Having a poll for this is like having a poll for "Who's sexier, Scarlett Johansson or Rosie O'Donnell?". There's no comparison. My Wachusetts pass already paid for itself, any more days are gravy and tomorrow will be my sixth day on my Maine pass. One or two more days and that'll be paid for.

Quality is much better too. I've only skied typical slick east coast hard pack on one day and that was my first day out.

Oh yeah. I misread and assumed this thread was just for December. Add a great early season day at Snow with soft manmade bumps, and another early season day at Hunter on the mainline. Also very enjoyable.

Yep. This season has been good so far...
