How long would you drive to ski something like Sunday River is offering today?

What's your driving limit for this? Obviously, it's a novelty to ski lift-serviced in October and for me it would be just to say I did it. If I was within a 2 hour drive, I might consider it. It's hard to justify burning a vacation day though, but I might have gone if I was closer.

If it wasn't for the wife and kids and job and needing to be here for Halloween related activities. Sure!

I need to bank goodwill for trips when the skiing is great. I'm probably going to wait until WA opens for first turns. Hopefully they will make it by T-day.

My limit would be 50 miles. I have skied SR early season in the past, it is fun but repetitive. Personally I wouldn't trade an April day of skiing sunny spring bumps for an October day on a few slushy trails.

Not to a buzzkill or anything, but I would rather go for a hike. Maybe if I lived a half an hour away and didn't have school or work today. Today is too perfect of a hiking day to go ski on one icy, crowded trail.

Not worth it for any distance. Just gonna be a 10 second run dodging bodies and waiting in a long lift line. You're just asking for pain. I'm with Talisman, I love Spring. March into April is my favorite time to ride. Early season I like to wait till there's a good amount open before I go. Hopefully Killington will have a good amount open in a couple weeks and then I'm there...

Don't worry Bvibert, once someone gets 6+ inches of snow I'll be out driving 7 hours to get it. Expect some sort of Mt. Washington suffer-fest where I fail to get any skiing in at all despite several miles of hiking. I'll even drag Marc along, that way I'll guarantee to find no skiing at all, and possibly even get lost.

Not very far. Maybe a half hour. I'm wouldn't be willing to spend the money or the time to ski that white ribbon of death if it was more than 25 or 30 minutes away.

I was just busting your chops. I'm sure we'll hear about plenty of (mis)adventures from you and Marc this season... ;)

That's easy for you to say, you've already gotten some turns in. We're starving over here, can't be too picky. ;)

I'd put my one day "novelty ski" drive time at 2.5 hours each way, the same drive time I do for my golfing endeavours.

A couple hours. But I wouldn't take off from work for it unless for some reason I was extremely not busy at the time.
