How long would you drive to ski something like Sunday River is offering today?

While I think it's pretty cool what they're doing, unless I lived slopeside I don't know if I'd waste gas / money on this when that could be spent on better days to come within a few short weeks.

The drive to SR is about 2:15 for me. The drive was not the issue, normally I wouldnt have thought twice about it but I have been out of the office signifignatly more than I have been in it lately and I had an important meeting today. Ill will be hiking somewhere on saturday.

What's your driving limit for this? Obviously, it's a novelty to ski lift-serviced in October and for me it would be just to say I did it. If I was within a 2 hour drive, I might consider it. It's hard to justify burning a vacation day though, but I might have gone if I was closer.

If it wasn't midweek, I'd go there, and it's 3 hours for me. If I wasn't really busy today, I'd be going, but I just can't. But it's for more then just to get my fix on.

Part of it would honestly want to do my part to support a ski area which is actually doing something like this.

If the skiing was on a day that I wouldn't lose money at work or a day off that I could take in premium conditions......I'd drive 2 hrs.
But I wouldn't waste a day off work for this when I am sure there are better snow days ahead.

If I didn't have to work today, I'd drive the 5 or so hours to get there easily. Wish I'd had more notice.

I seriously considered going today and its about 2:45 for me. I would have gone if I knew for sure that they would open right at 10, not between 10 and noon. I have to work at 3:30 so I would only be able to stay until noon.

I went...had the day off anyway and its only 35 min from home. Good time...now I feel like I made up for not skiing in Nov last year...its been about 14 or 15 years since I skied in October. Very happy halloween!:spread:

Like Greg said, I certainly wouldn't burn a vacation day for it. I reserve those for powder days, cheap mid-week skiing at full capacity, or outings with other people that work best mid-week.
