Resort or Ski Area: Hunter
Conditions: chalky blown manmade, styrofoam hardpack and ice. sunny and warm

Trip Report:

Well i couldn't get my ass out of bed till 8 am because the combination of beer and my bed being way to comfy. zipped right up 89 and right thru palenville. got about half way up the ravine and right before the tight turn traffic just stoped. there where cops everywhere and at least 4 ambulances and to truck from the fire department. no idea what was going on but it cost me 20 min. maybe DMC knows what was going on.

booted up and ran over to the ticket area to lend one of jess's friends a pair of pants and some giggles.

went up the summit quad and saw this.

was about a 5 to 6 min wait.
took the quad up and hit minya konka to eastside drive to kennedy to fith ave. that ended up bing the ROTD. chalky man made really nice was really diggin it and my friend jess was doing really well. great confidence builder. she is really starting to get comfy and she is able to keep up with me for the most part unless i let run. got a pick of her in a carve.

next run to the broadway quad up and hit the terrain park. one the kids in the group wanted to get all buttery on the boxes. took some pics on the way up.

did like three runs there then went back to the ROTD. jess got a call so we went and met up with her other friend and did a few runs on the belt. left side like always was soft, the right was hardpack. while it wasn't a complete shitshow it was umm interesting

so here is a better pick of that area that has all those roads going up it. love to know what they where doing there.
Picture_011.jpg

called it a day at 3:30 after 11 runs. snaped a few more shots.
Picture_015.jpg

got a good sunset.
Picture_025.jpg

o what is up with cortina valley is it out of bussines?

then hit traffic around newburg exit 17.
Picture_026.jpg

all in all a fun day with some friends. i am fully adjusted to the cold now it was probally around 24 or so and i was chillin with my jacket open. might go back on tuesday.

o and can we maybe increase the number of pic that you can put in a post.

Another great day on the hill. Early ROTD was Hellgate Racers with silky manmade. We left early after nearly 2 weeks of skiing the family was burnt out. Good thing we left early, we came home to a semi cold house (1st floor).

Those roads are logging trails. If you are here on a weekeday you will see and hear it.

Today was another great day...180 flew by me on Ike at about 2:15 I guess on his way out.

I quit at 3:30...reluctantly.

Hunter made alot of snow last night...the trails are in great shape.

I must have straight run IKE 4 times today. I didn't stop because I knew you would convince me to take another. That would be bad for my homelife.

Cliff>IKE.... Clairs... LowerK... Really good...
Even the stuff i thought would be bad was pretty edge able..
I was hammering down Racers at 345 and somebody screamed out "watch out... It's icy".. But it was pretty edgeable.. I did 2 quick checkturns to test in out and it was fine... probably from GapicSki...

Yelled at you Jim while i was on the the Z... We seem to be out of phase this year... :)

Accident was probably a hiker in trouble at the falls...

The logging roads on Rusk were used to haul the old growth hemlock out back in the day... The whole area was stripped bare of hemlocks for the tanning industry... Roads remain..

1. They are logging right now. I walked over on Friday with Spencer to see them loading the logging trucks. I heard chainsaws running. They also logged that same area 5 years ago.

2. It was not a hiker at the Falls. When we came down the mountain at 4PM yesterday they were usuing a giant street cleaner to remove something from the road. This was only 1/2 mile from Palenville.

That happened with Ed earlier this season...I just couldn't seem to hook up with Patsy and him.

That's been corrected in the past 2 weeks.

I think you are next.
