Thanks for the crowd forecast.

You guys who still hold onto that "Hunter is a total crowd zoo on the weekends" idea are the main reason Hunter is rarely crowded. I've skied there 5 out of the past 8 days including last weekend and I don't recall ever waiting in a lift line.

Yeah! Take that! How dare you think that a ski resort might be crowded during the Christmas to New Years period. Dummy! You must clearly be a Hunter hater. Don't you know Hunter is never crowded?

Also, if you can ski Hunter West, you can ski ANYTHING! ANYTHING!

But Jim...it is NEW YEARS....dont you think it will be slightly crowded??? I understand that the hunter of "old" is long gone...but you can't deny that it still gets its fair share of "joeys" and crowds...

You are wrong Ski Dog. Hunter never gets crowded. Its perfect. And its at least as challenging as Jay Peak and JHMR. So there.

Sadly, it has not been at all crowded so far this holiday week.

Not crowded at all. Which is bad for the mountain's business, good for no waiting.

Maybe it will be crowded this weekend, who knows?

But it seems a bit silly to me to say today it will be crowded tomorrow and plan your ski time accordingly.

And unless you go there and ski you just won't know.

Will you?

we definitely don't have much of a crowd this week, and I'm not expecting much more for the weekend considering the forecast. We're happy though. People have been enjoying themselves. JimG, I've heard your voice many-a-time while running through the locker room....glad to see you here so often during this the holiday period!

I also think we're less crowded because people are so well distributed. Lots of open terrain, open lifts, lessons, snowtubing, stuff to do inside the lodge too. It's been a really nice week.

Anybody from AZ planning on going?

You are going to be there on Monday 12/31? I might drive up. I'm considering going up to VT Sunday night as well to ski Monday and maybe Tues., but weather doesn't seem great for driving. Taking a day trip to Hunter seems like a compromise between VT and not skiing. Rental car place doesn't open until 7am, so I probably wouldn't be in my boots and skiing until 10ish. What are your plans?

I'm PM'ing you my email address. At least on my end it will be quicker than AZ posts.

Not to break topic but I think the cats in general have been a bit quiet this week. Last Sundays mini hurricane scarred a good amount of people away. When it is warm and raining in the NYC metro area people forget that the trails are still white and worth sliding. Anyway to get back on topic I hope to get to huntah on the 2nd. Still have not been there to slide yet this season.

There's a chance I may make it up there on the 1st. I'll let you know if I do.

Great.. I'll PM you with my email. My plan now is iffy. If I can meet up with someone I plan to go, otherwise I might not. Still early enough in the season that going through the expense and hassle of renting a car to make a day trip like that might not be worth it if I'm going to be skiing alone. As of now I have a rental car reserved.

Sorry, just realized you said the 1st not the 31st. While if I were in VT I would be perfectly happy to scrap my new year's eve plans with friends and ski the extra day, I figure since I'm at home I'm going to head out that night and probably won't want to wake up at 6am to drive to Hunter. If you go, enjoy though!
