My second trip to Hunter Mtn this season saw alot more machine made snow on the mountain than last week. We arrived at Hunter at 8:30AM and I boarded the express quad at 8:55AM for a ride down Hellgate-7th Avenue-Eisenhower Drive. Conditions were light fluffy machine made powder and snowmaking was occuring on the 7th avenue part of the trail, making for mid-winter like conditions. Eisenhower drive had about 6"+ of loose manmade powder on it making it really fun to ski, and the trail with the best conditions on the mountain.

With 29 trails now open there were alot more ways to get down the mountain than last week, lift ticket prices also increased from $35 to $52. I did about 8 runs on the Snowlite express quad during the day, and skied every trail on the main mtn that was open. The majority of the trails have just opened and have not yet been exposed to a freeze-thaw cycle, so true ice on the trails was virtually non-existent. The Cliff and Heuga Express trails were nicely groomed packed powder. Upper Crossover was just opened this morning and had nice soft powder that softened to a semi-spring condition in the afternoon sun.

I skied until 2:30 in the afternoon and I never waited more than about 5 minutes for the summit quad and F lift was primarily deserted. Snow is being made on Hunter west on Clairs Way, and that trail should open next week. Natural snow cover is non-existent except over about 3000' and even then is about 1-2" deep.
