Is Hunter going to be open Monday and Tuesday or just this weekend and then reopening Thanksgiving weekend. I'm hoping to get some turns in Monday or Tuesday and Hunter is a lot closer than Mt. Snow.

per their blog

"We're also planning to stay open mid-week, so for those of you who can't make it this weekend, there will be plenty of snow leftover and snowmaking will continue! Keep checking back!"

Alright, here's the deal...sorry for the delay, it's my day off!

1. The new compressor was missing a part when we got it. It had to be shipped from Europe and it has taken absolutely forever -- all for one part! Not sure about any more details than that.

2. Steve Laing is in Marketing. Actually he's in the Group Sales/Special Events office (I've been moved down into the Discovery Center with Brian, the Marketing Director).

3. I just posted a completely insane snowmaking update on the blog...more terrain than we expected to open!

Hellgate, Broadway, Kennedy, Belt, Battery, 5th Ave, Off Broadway, Park Ave, Mossy, Minya, Lower X-Over, Central Park North, Gramercy Park, Bucky's Run.

That's a crazy roll-out for opening day! 25 foot whales on Hellgate? Ike and Wayout get hit this weekend? Rad. At this rate you'll have Annapurna open by December!

Jessica,

As soon as you said part from Europe. I said never mind! Most of these Europen companies move in REVERSE! If they forgot the part, they should have it overnighted to you the CUSTOMER, but a lot of these companies are very arrogant, trust me , I know from dealings from work. This is DEFINTELY the best opening I can remember, and I have skied at Hunter since 1972 (6 years old).

Best opening ever was 1990 or 1991 can't remember. Opened on November 5th with a ton of snow and did not close untill May.

Looks like more terrain opening up:

Snowmaking underway... opening Saturday, November 22!

Ticket pricing will be as follows on Saturday and Sunday:

  • Adult: $39
  • Young Adult: $35
  • Junior/Senior: $26
  • All ages with your Big Lift Card: $25
Midweek rates will be determined later in the weekend, and will be based on terrain available.
We plan to open with these trails:

  • Hellgate
  • Broadway
  • Kennedy
  • 5th Ave.
  • Belt Parkway
  • The Battery
  • Off Broadway
  • Park Ave.
  • Mossy Brook
  • Lower Madison Ave.
  • Central Park North
  • Gramercy Park
  • The Learning Zone
These are strong possibilities for Sunday:

  • Minya Kinka
  • Lower Crossover
  • Eisenhower Drive
We're hoping to have B, C and Quad open if all of the above trails are open! We're also planning to stay open mid-week, so for those of you who can't make it this weekend, there will be plenty of snow leftover and snowmaking will continue! This is shaping up to be an epic startup! Check out our first video of the season, filmed on Wednesday!
Here comes the 2008-09 season... Can You Feel It?
