Holy crap... As bad as this year started - it's great now... (not talking about the quad) :)

Lower K27 and Clairs are getting covered now... And they want to be open 100% by xmas...

I don't remember that happening in recent years...

The snow is wall2wall..

thats what they are saying... I don't see why not...

So here's the rumor...
Hunter needs to open all trails in order to convince the state that they can create more trails in the future...

why? if so, i'm assuming that expansion would be on the west side or maybe skiers right k.

Just back in..
Snowmaking is still in full force..
Had some runs down the reserved Lower K27... Creamy all the way down... Funs full on there...

Was on the Z lift when they turned on the guns on Clares.. Guns are full on there too....

Whats left? Upper Xover... Prune.... and.... wait for it... wait for it.... 44

I'll be a very happy slug if they get the west side totaly covered. I haven't seen that in years. I need this as K is just too far for a day trip unless I take a bus trip which only hits it once a month. Hell Clairs keeps me interested enough!

Nice post dmc. Hunter’s operation is something to be admired especially when it comes to snow-making.

Me too, amusing watching the snowmakers run down the mountain opening valves. Wayout wins ROTD right when the fanguns went off, got 6 or 7 laps in before more than a handful of people discovered it. Amazing conditions all around, possibly the best I've seen Hunter on a non-powder day. It took until the sun went down 3:30 to even find anything that made a sound outside of Heuga. (oh, and it was 2F).

They are pounding the hell out of the mountain though, Clairs has every single gun on, and then some. Highlands is on. Park had all the guns on all day. K27's on, Belt, Broadway, Ike, Gun Hill and Minya all had guns randomly go on and off throughout the day. Racer's needs snow, but I think the wind is probably the reason they aren't making it there. The oscillating Super Polecat on Broadway looks nice, as do the other new Polecats. What else......oh, the Quad didn't break today. All is good.

*Jessica if you read this* - Ask Mtn Ops to put a gun on the connector over to Kennedy from the K-27/Milky Way/Lower Crossover area, it's really bad.

EDIT: This thread needs pics:

Is it true that that gun is operated on WiFi? It is truly badass. Where are the other ones?

The quad stopped and i almost pissed myself - started soon... Someone must've fallen...

I was diggin Way Out - hit it a couple times.. But we were in Merry Poachmas mode so we were not quite making it down Eastside Dr all the way.... :)

We basically did that down to Park over and over.. Wayout was great... No doubt..

I'm pretty impressed at whats going on and how they are going for it...

Racers needs some love... But I'm not complaining... :)

I was thinking the other ones along that side of Broadway/7th seemed new... And defintely a sight to see...

Especially when it half started a couple times before I actually got moving again, I immediately went to "Oh shit, it broke".

Hah, 1st day of the season for me, and I didn't want to be messing with hoses on K, another day. (soon hopefully).

Agreed, watching the snowmaking was pretty sweet. They were really working today, guns going on and off all over the mountain.

I was liking the mood too. The snowmakers literally running down Clair's to turn the guns on, upbeat lifties, and I spotted Orville in the lodge eating lunch and talking with a bunch of older skiers.

Hunter is showing what it can do. Damn impressive snowmaking. Hunter has been doing this for a long time. David Slutsky has installed snowmaking systems all over the world.

It was 10 degrees this morning at my house in Woodstock, NY

Should be some great skiing this weekend all over the Northeast. Get out and ski, ride, free heel, or whatever.
