I doubt you could pump snow for $100.00 per hour. Big pumps= big electric bill. I run big pumps but would have to actualy see the size of them to get an idea of what they would cost to run. Hunter has huge pumps and air compressors. 1k to 2k an hour sounds about right for that size operation.

I would guess it's below what Hunter/Windham says and above what Belleayre says... :)

there's no need to make snow at Hunter now.. the base is enough to last to the end of the season.. And hopefully to June.. Which would be sweet! Putting fresh down on the old snow won't do all that much for the longterm..

I think one mountain telling another mountain how to do ski area management is not where we want to go here. Each ski area manager should have the freedom to run the mountain the way that makes the best sense for that mountain. There are many different ways each ski resort is managed, different terrain, and different equipment. Next Hunter and Windham will be telling Belleayre how deep to run their grooming tillers, how many trails to groom, and requiring Belleayre snowmaking to save money through the use of Snowmax.

Personally, I think the Catskills ski areas would be a lot better off if they worked together rather than fight each other. IMHO

Was at Belleayre on Saturday and conditions were perfect (and they didn't blow any snow!).

I want to go up tomorrow, but am concerned about a possible slopfest. Wondering if i should wait until Thursday (supposed to go into the low 20s Weds night)?
