Personally, I really appreciate this rain we're getting. I seeded 18,000 square feet of new lawn last weekend and was chasing myself around the yard moving the sprinkler earlier this week. We've gotten some short soaking rain events the past two days which is perfect to keep it wet without washing it out.

Of course. Along with ten tri-axle dump truck loads (180 yards) of 1/2 inch screened top soil.

Not big on the Halt's. Not until the lawn is fully established anyway. I'll most likely overseed it in the spring to thicken up the turf. Halt's + new seed = Bad...

I don't like the chemical but it the only way to stop the crabgrass. Halts should be fine by spring.

Yeah, but again, I'm going to overseed in the spring so there will be new seed. I've gotten better results keeping crabgrass down by really working on getting a thick healthy turf which in turn naturally doesn't allow crabgrass to grow. Provided there are no remaining bare spots by the following spring, I'll start using the Halt's then.

True.. with the overseeding you don't want to use the halts. I would put down to more aps of an organic fertilzer this fall 30 days apart and you probably won't need to overseed in the spring it should get really thick on its own.
