Seriously I am so stupid.
So I am standing above this drop at sunshine village contemplating whether to go off. hmmm the landing looks so deep and powdery, hmmm I wonder why no one has gone of it yet, maybe theres a rock? No there can't be it looks so deep. No maybe I should go probe the landing before I go off, no no its fine, there is no way there can be any rocks there.

What a suprise, I landed on top of a boulder covered with about 6 inches of powder, didn't even know what happened besides that my knee hit my face really hard and I couldn't really see out of one of my eyes. Didn't notice until I looked up that I landed on a rock.

I am so lucky that I didn't get seriously hurt. I got a black eye and couldnt see straight for about an hour, but thats it. Can't even believe how stupid I can be sometimes. Atleast I learned a lesson and will never do something so stupid again.

Heres a pic of what I went off.... the red height gauge thing is about 12 ft, and the line to the the right of it is where I took off, and the circle is where I landed(which is pretty much all rock)

Luckily the ski took the damage a lot worse then me.

Just wanted to say be safe out there and you have to question yourself about something you probably shouldn't do it.

Awsome trip. Didn't try Kicking Horse though because I heard the coverage at the base was terrible. Skied Lake Louise one day and Sunshine Village four. Couldn't get my dad to do deliurum dive.

I'll post a bunch of pics later once I get them all uploaded, most of them came out bad because of the lighting though.

DUUUUUDE!!! You should've gone.. You never ski the base of a mountain like Kicking Horse... It's like JH or Wistler/Blackcomb... Just stay up top and get the good stuff... Leave the bottom of the mountain for those who enjoy those kinda places... Your place is up high!! Cliffs and chutes... Not cut trails...

Think of Tuckermans... just because Sherburne is thin doesn't mean the chute is bad...

Damn... Still - your young... So you got pleanty of time to learn these things...

How do I stay up top when the Gondi goes does to the bottom and the lift up there only serves 1 side of the the 3 ridges? Skin back up to it? I would of been down for that but I really don't think my dad would have been.

This is what made me decide not go:

and pretty much a bunch of other stuff at TGR about how bad it ussually is. Also the base at Kicking Horse is the same elavation as Banff, which had no snow at all. Also before I got there it was really warm and did not snow for two weeks.

Bah, a little scratch there and perhaps a very minor concussion or just a bad headache. You probably had a 50/50 chance of there not being a rock there. I would have done it to. :)
