I miss everthing having to do with winter. I miss looking at storm forcasts, going online and checking for snow. I miss looking at ski reports online. I miss that feeling you get when you walk in a lodge and read the snow report. I miss the atmosphere.

oh winter cant come soon enough...:snow::snow::snow::snow:

I've already started the constant checks for snow, on Loveland's website...looks like they got some natural snow yesterday. (A-basin doesn't seem to have a page for snowmaking pics).

You guys are a riot...........

It is funny to read the anticpatory(sp) comments on this forum for the start of the season. I laugh each time I read them! Do I get psyched for the season? Sure, but not to the point of a great deal of anticipation. Winter will come, it always has, the snow flies, the boards get tossed in the car, the boots go on and there is that first click of the bindings. That's when it starts and that is when the psych truely begins for me.

Fall is this incredible time when the bugs are gone, the hiking is best and the mountain biking is just superb. The leaves are on the trail, the slick spots are even slicker and all that summer riding pays off with long fall rides finishing at dusk. Finally, there are those late fall warm days where you can still throw the kayak in the water and check out the foliage from the boat which is such a great way to see it, especially the reflection off the water of the colors. So, don't forget the other toys over the next 4 - 6 weeks. The snow's gonna get here, that new gear you purchased will get used, you'll begin to "head to the hills" and the smiles will be on everyone faces. But for now...............hit the last 4 - 6 weeks of fall doing "fall" activites, kinda like getting the last "bits" of snow on the hill in spring..........

You know, the time when most of us find make up for the cash we just paid for the season passes, but can't use yet... :-D

I *HATE* that feeling.

Funny you should mention that. Fall is when I get the most overtime in because I know I have to grab it now. Too much to do in the summer and too much skiing in the winter.

Great, thank you for that wonderful prose.

Now the rest of us who don't care about mountain biking and hiking (or don't care enough to justify driving for 5 hours each way to get to worthwhile mountain biking and hiking) can get back to our regularly scheduled ski jonesing.

Thank you though, very special and non-patronising piece.
