Calling for a foot of snow between now and tomorrow morning high on Whiteface:

http://www.snow-forecast.com/resorts/Whiteface-Mountain.0to3top.shtml

Calls for heavy rain event tonight at lower elevation, which is what the local weather guys are saying. Basically, it's calling for an elevation snow event.

I still don't buy it but it's nice to dream.....

Am I the only one that thinks that website is full of crap? Come on look what they called for k-mart and jay peak last week and niether of them got anything.

that site has already blown a forecast for jay and killington posted on AZ in the past week. it is clearly not a site to be trusted.

I don't live near a ski area, but when you compare their forecasts to reports afterwards, from my memory (which can be faulty of course, and far from a scientific study :) ), they are better than others. I would trust this site over most others, especially since they adjust for elevation. I think you are being unfair about the blown forecast for Jay -- they had a very boarderline temperature for snow, and if they were slightly off, that meant rain not snow.

i suspect that site doesn't even have humans doing the forecasts, just using models and equations. please correct me if i am wrong, that is just the way it seems. just seems like their forecasts are not taking obvious and known issues into consideration. i prefer to use a number of sources, especially sources that explain why they are calling for a particular forecast, get to know their biases, and draw them together for forecast checks. not even roemer would have been calling to snow at ski area elevation these last 7 days

OK, if you're going to talk about weather forecasts, talk about this one,, or this one, or even one from HERE because these folks are all professionals. Seriously, don't even consider these folks or even this service 'cause they don't cut it for Northern New England.

OK, that said, chance of snow in N VT tonight and tomorrow, but don't get too psyched...rain mainly. We're getting there though!

I don't know how they do it - even though it may seem like I work with them since I've defended them twice this week, I have no connection :) I certainly respect your view of wanting to know how they come up with their forecasts -- I'm like that for many things, but for forecasts I have never bothered to put in the time. I do think the site is generally more conservative than Roemer though :) Perhaps someone who is very interested in this will make some comparisons over the course of the season.
