For the megaresorts? Not really. You can be running $200/day or in that ballpark for busy weekend days for lift tickets these days. Insanity, but if those are all you ski you've probably broken even with your pass even in the ~4 day range, or come pretty close.
Not exactly.

There’re “session passes” (or whatever it’s called) that are basically advance purchase of day tickets, ,which are good for all resorts within the same resort “family”. Those are a lot less than the season pass.

Season pass is only worth it if you do ski more than 3-4 days! But consider how many people purchase gym membership but never actually use it, it’s pretty clear plenty of people suffers from illusion detached from reality. Some of them even sign up again and again “believing” they would use it “this time”! Probably the same people who elected Mr. so-and-so thinking he’ll deliver what they WISH, ”this time”.

There are many people that think about money (because they have a lot of it) differently and they don't care whether they get their money's worth or not.

The cost of an Epic Pass is less than a nights lodging at Vail for many of these folks. Nevermind airfare and everything else.

Once again need to play the Indy game on my way to Stowe this Sunday. Probably an afternoon half day. My #1 choice this time is Middlebury. Any recent intel from there?

Was just at Middlebury Saturday and it was absolutely great. The Bailey Falls side has some really good stuff

Middlebury is skiing spectacular. The entire mountain is completely filled in. Bailey's typically runs Friday-Sunday FYI. I think they wanted to run it today for the holiday but winds blew it down.

I def want to check out middlebury

This pass really shines when the natural snow comes to play. I just had two INCREDIBLE days at saddleback and BMOM

May check out ragged tmrw. Tempted by Sunday river if they can get lifts going tho

Agreed. The past two weeks I’ve had an overwhelming amount of options to choose from on the pass. The Ikon+Indy options from the Portland area is pretty nice

I would like to go Indy (+my full Ikon) next year. Granby is a indy mountain and has an add on for season pass holders but my pass there is a "Homeowner" deal that doesn't include that option. Drop the local Pocono pass.

Do I get my money's worth out of it?? Unknown, but there is another factor in play and that's convenience. Like someone said before my full ikon is basically paid for with the 1 week in Aspen we do every year, everything else is gravy including Winter Park which is 20 min from the condo. I really love these (I call them medium size mountains) when the snow is good like this year. The Middlebury's, Dartmouth's (one of my fav's), West which i've never got to. Most likely I would but if we were to have a bad snow year I might eat some money.

I had one season where I was even or lost money in a bad snow year. It’s a risk but it’s a risk of $300-$400 total. And it’s unlikely you wouldn’t use it AT ALL. And there are many ikon adjacent options all over the place. I’ve used my Indy pass a day or two on most western trips.

This year I’m already at 2 jay 2 Bolton and 1 each at Waterville Black ME Black NH and saddleback. With intentions to use 2 magic 2 ragged 2 cannon and the remaining Waterville. It’s pretty awesome.

Some options I can check out in BC next week too if I want to explore

I bought indy add on to my magic pass when it went on sale mid summer. It was kind of a spontaneous purchase I still haven't used it, maybe I'll go to Jay or Bolton this weekend. I got my money's worth last time I had indy 2 or 3 years ago, and I'm sure I will at least break even by the end of the season. I have a killington and magic pass and live less than an hr from both so I usually don't bother traveling but it's nice to get up north a few times

Hey Snoseek

I Gotta get to this place. Good Indy duo with Sunlight
That double needs replacement but a detachable is not gonna go over well imo. Still they've been great for powderhorn. That place was the burke of the west they changed hands/ failed so many times..maybe they'll push north of the mesa there's great stuff and.lots of room.
