So catamount is like JUST big enough and JUST close enough to home to justify this visit (for “free” on Indy of course), especially on a day when Vermont is boilerplate. The skiing is cornish groomers in the 30 degree sun. I dig it. There’s a very nice little inn right at the base. And Great Barrington is nearby. I’d come back to bring my nephew and fiance to learn for cheap.
Butternut just up the road is another great place for never-evers. Also cost effective.

Over / under on the number of times Indy opens up passes for sale again? I think last year it was 4 times, so I'm going with that, and taking the over.

I don't know, they are closing this window pretty rapidly due to the uptake already. I'll go 2 more times this year. Their value compared to all other big passes is becoming night and day.

free is the key word in my prior post! the noobs can pay, but i sure wont ski one of these places off the pass.

too many local-ish tiny places to choose from if my purpose is indoctrinating beginners

i love the variety indy has gotten me this season. the usuals (bolton, jay, saddleback, waterville) and a bunch of new to me places (BMOM, black NH, catamount), and i still havent even gotten to magic and cannon, and i also hope to check out ragged

Anyone trying to renew or buy this evening and unable to get payment to go through? Every card I’m trying says payment failed.

When I renewed the same thing happened. I put in all the info and got payment declined. It went through the next day and I received the confirmation email. The system is wonky.

Hum….yesterday was last day, so hopefully they will put it through today as well. That might mean I bought 10 Indy passes as I tried every card I and my husband had in the house…..

I had the same thing happen and tried multiple cards multiple times but just got one (not multiple) confirmation (per Indy pass I wanted) a few days later.

They were quick to reply to my email confirming my purchase. I also put in multi payment methods.

Thanks everyone. I put in a request to customer services and they responded that they put the payment through today. So all good.

Dropping Epic for the first time in many years, not actually a Vail hater, but past couple years we have not used much, kids sports schedule and our foolish decision to get a dog 2 years ago just means we don’t ski much anymore. And now the kids are teens their price went up so can’t justify a big pass.
5 more years they are in college, parents retire and I buy a condo at Flatton or Slowkemo or somewhere nice and gentle for old folks.

Annual Bolton trip past weekend. Pulled in Sat arnd 9AM and both base lodge lot and timberline lots were packed as there was a boarding event, parked at timberline. Even with all that, never waited more thn 5 mins on Vista Quad and everything else no longer thn a minute or two tops. Sat was awesome as it seems it was all over New England and had fun Sunday before we got in the car arnd 2 for the trip back home to Philly burbs.

Side note - stayed in Burlington and 1st time there with such warm, spring like temps. Was a lil surprised at how many tweaking homeless addicts around. Considering how imps tourism and hospitality is to the city I would think they would do something abt that. Turned me and my girlfriend off a bit but great weekend in general.

Hoping to get up North one more time in April to burn my 2 Jay redemptions

There's a limit to what you can do about the homeless tweaker problem. Removing their tent villages is about it. Can't really get them off the corners begging / harassing people for money. Portland Maine is the same way. I recall several years back the city tried to prohibit the begging at stop lights due to the safety problems it can cause as well as just being a nuisance. They lost in court as it was successfully argued that panhandling is protected by the 1st amendment.

Yea I get that but def a turnoff and would think of staying in Waterbury or Stowe next time I do my Bolton weekend tho I love Burlington and the variety/choice in hotels and not really expensive.

Indy for 3 years so far since I left EPIC but I'm usually in Burlington with very cold temps ('23 and '24) so never really noticed it outside of walking past the bus station. Also with UVt on spring break Church st area was quiet Friday and Sat night so maybe that also made it more obvious along with the warmer temps

It's pretty darn noticeable no matter the time of year. I stay in Williston when I ski Bolton. Usually the Marriott or Hilton properties near there can be had for very few points if you are in either of those rewards programs. Not as quaint as Waterbury, but works for me.

I'm with you. I used to stay at a chain hotel in Burlington for my Bolton trips ( I wont say the name) but the last time I was there they were definitely hosting homeless and/or people with addiction issues. I'll pay some extra bucks and stay in Stowe from now on.

I'll check it out as a Hilton rewards traveler. I have stayed at Green Mountain Suites all 3 times and love it ... comfortable beds, bathrooms and separate 'family' room and kitchen.

We were on the other side of the highway 89 and my spot wasn't hosting but abt 1.5/2 miles from downtown. Skied Stowe on my EPIC a few years back and stayed their last year for 2 days of ski at Jay cause a great deal and always liked the town, especially late march early April when it's quieter. Hour drive doesn't bother me

I put away some bucks during the year and stay at the Stateside for my Indy Jay trips. Its nice to walk 100 feet right to the Bonnie in the morning. Sometimes you have to treat yourself.
