I can’t believe how good this mountain is right now. It kind of reminds me of a big Tenney with the way the terrain follows the natural contours of the mountain and the way power will last untouched for a few days. Is Magic considered Vermont’s hidden gem because it’s closer to Boston and New York? I thought this place was just a college training spot but instead it’s a sick mountain.
We skied there once in late March with a few inches of fresh snow and counted 12 people total in attendance. It would have been all time if Bailey's was open.

Midd is hands down my favorite mountain on the East Coast. The combination of fun terrain, good snow, lack of crowds, old school lodge, and decent infrastructure (recent substantial lift and snowmaking upgrades) is really quite spectacular.

For those who haven't put an Eastern Townships trip on their Indy agenda to hit Sutton and Owl's Head, make it a priority. Owl's Head is smallish, but very good. Sutton has off the charts trees of all types from low angle and wide open beginner trees, to the super technical.

And when you are here, pony up the cash to go to Orford one day. Orford terrain should be talked about in the same breath as the very best ski areas in the East. Crazy good expert terrain and trees plus a few phenomenal super steep cruisers. Their gnar terrain is on par with absolutely anywhere. It has a reputation of often being icy like Whiteface, but that was not the case at yesterday. Sutton is supposed to be the better snow quality hill, but Orford was considerably better yesterday than Sutton was today.

Big fan of the Eastern Townships area. We are staying in Lac Brome. The village of Knowlton reminds me of Meredith NH.

If Indy could get Orford on board, I'd be thrilled.

I’ve been telling you guys that the eastern townships are definitely worth going to.

Very easy to get to, and the skiing is top-notch.

It’s sweet that the iIndy pass is there now, but if you’re looking for more days, remember that the township offers its own pass deals with the l’est go card.

https://www.easterntownships.org/lestgo

If you buy it now, it will be $84 a day Canadian, which is about $61.50 US. That’s a pretty good deal compared to our ticket prices but if you buy the pass when it goes on sale in the fall pre-sale, or at the Boston ski show, you’ll get a decent discount off of that price also. Last fall, I believe the price was $78 a day, or about $57 US.

Best thing about this pass is that the days never expire. If you don’t use them this year, they will roll them over to next year for $10 on the website or they’ll do it for free at the booth at the Boston ski show.

It’s absolutely on my to do list! Might get to cross a few firsts off this weekend. My gf and I are heading that way with her friend meeting us there. They want to ski Jay Saturday but I’m out of days. So I’ll be taking the extra car to ski Sutton or Owls Head. Burke is also on our list. So hope to squeeze all 3 of those in some combination Friday-Sunday.

Orford is still as cheap as I remember it. $80 CAD for a weekday ticket which currently translates to about $59. That's an insanely good price if the conditions are good.

One of these years I'll finally get my passport renewed and get to these 3 places.

I loved Owl's Head. Granted, it was bluebird and the Lake was frozen and I got to watch US women's hockey win gold at the bar there :) Trees at the top are short but fun. Lift line from the top is a 50mph trip. I skied the whole mountain in a day but would definitely to go back.

That a little mountain is serviced by 2x HSQs and another fixed grip quad with a loading carpet is mind-blowing to this MWV rat. And the real estate on the lower mountain... wow... Deer Valley of the Eastern Townships lol.

Orford was definitely fairly priced. $178ca for my son and I on a peak Sunday. So, $129.63. It skis way bigger than it's acreage would indicate. Purely from a terrain perspective , it's definitely a better mountain for my tastes than Sutton or Owls Head. Thanks for the tip Bosco on the Eastern Townships deal. I'll have to get that for next year.

I may hit Bromont next trip too just to check it out. But apparently the place is almost always a zoo according to the locals I met at Sutton and Orford. Everyone here has been extremely appreciative of Americans coming to visit and spend money. I've run into many NH families on vacation like us.
