it may be easier for some to ski a seeded line than better than a natural line. but for people who arent as good at making quick turns, it can be harder to ski seeded lines. the spaced out natural bumps are just as much of a crutch for some because it gives them more time to make their next turn. the steeper the trail, the harder it becomes to ski a seeded line. check out the course on conclusion sometime, i bet you would have a tougher time staying in that line than you would the natural lines on the skiers right of conclusion

while any bump trail becomes "harder" when it's steeper. you make some good points. when i ski the ol course after the bmmc, generally i find myself getting spit out after a coupla bumps yet i can ski bumps right next to the course just fine. more spaced out, not as deep, more time. the nat bumps seem at least for me, to have better (easier) entry & exits than the hammered slots on the course that require the ability to more or less straightline.

I agree with this. Natural bump lines are formed by skiers, obviously. I'd guess that the snarly nature of natural lines has a lot to do with where the hill forces most skiers to slow down, skid bigger turns, take a rest, fall, etc...And it may be easier for an advanced or expert skier to follow the "paths" i.e. line, so to speak, of the skiers that went before him/her, many of which were probably intermediates (esp. here on the East coast). So you get funky lines, weird spacing, etc., that are actually easier to ski, but less fun.

Seeded bumps require quick turns, good form, and are relentless. People think they are a crutch because you most often find them on easier terrain, where bumps might not normally form. So it becomes "oh, easy seeded bumps, yawn." But take on a bump competition's seeded line at a destination resort after the competitors are done, and, as has been stated, it is a tougher line to stay in and ski than the natural lines on either side.

At least, my 2 cents.

I've never skied the conclusion course, but I've skied the BMMC course without any problems.

the conclusion course is MUCH steeper than the BMMC course which is on the lower part of OL. try skiing it fast and direct some time and report back if you still think seeded moguls are a crutch

you're forgetting that hs is a top 30 skier ...

don't know what it means, found i could stay in the line on conclusion better than i could on the bmmc course. maybe the spacing is better on conclusion for a hacker like myself cause it's steeper?

Kinda weird. I see a lot more places seeding bumps lately (now Mount Snow). Seems like it's becoming a more popular practice.

I'm sure it's easier than than straight lining lower conclusion roll over on natural snow, or skiing lower conclusion with 3" of snow. Just sayin.

In this case, not only are seeded bumps a crutch, they're a waste of a great trail.
