I know from some Healthy chat on SkiDiva that Severine is running, and eating healthy, with a little bit of mt biking thrown in.
I'm Mt biking frequently, golfing, and rollerblading.
I know that my summer activity has made a huge positive impact on my skiing when its time to click in, but of the three main activities in my summer line up, rollerblading makes me feel the most like it will help maintain some of the balance and muscle memory.

What are you doing to stay fit during the summer?
How will it impact your ski season when its time to click in!?

I've been mountain biking 3 days a week lately so I hope to have better cardio and more leg strength going into the ski season. That was one of the main reasons for getting into MTB, but now I just enjoy it for what it is.

Now, if you could only get a remote for the TV that is shaped like a beer bottle. You'd be all set!

I think Mt Biking is going to help my mogul skiing.
I really struggle with looking ahead. Look down, waaaaay too much. Mt biking and trails with tight trees is forcing me to keep my head up and a longer path of vision in front of me.

I like Mt biking a lot, so the added benefit to skiing is ...........Bonus!!

You'll notice it helping far more in the trees. That's why glades felt natural to me right away, I'd been mountain biking for several years beforehand.

I did notice that already this past season, but not as much as I'd hoped.
I still have the 6" between my ears that gets in the way.

I can see that totally. The whole looking where you want to go thing. The only difference is with MTB, there is a nice clear line to follow...

Not necessarily, but it'll keep me in overall good shape, which just helps everything.

mtbing, even during the season (Southern CT got no snow, so biking through most of winter), didn't really help get the ski muscles in shape - skiing just uses different muscles. I think maybe the spinning motion, especially the up motion, did help when skinning... but for downhill I'd still get my ass kicked when I hadn't skied in a while but still mtb'ed.

I'm not sure the MTB will help me all that much since I go infrequently. But the running has helped my MTB, and I am positive it will help with overall fitness for skiing as well. Right now, I'm probably in the best shape of my adult life (scary, I know!) so it can only get better from here. :D

Wish I had more time to swim, though. That's one summer activity I sorely miss.

I was watching the vid from Abasin that Itri took. You have some great skills to work with. I'm thinking when you get back on skis, you'll be amazed at how the fitness brings those skills to the snow. You will Rock!!!

I twice led us to dead ends last night even though Greg insisted I was wrong and the map was right. The second time resulted in a little bushwhacking to get to where we were trying to go. Not really all that good of a story I guess. Actually I would have been better off not telling it and leaving it to your imagination...

Getting my knee fixed should help some. If I'm lucky I can get a little mtn biking in this fall so I'm not a total weakling at the start of the season.

 You're making me blush! Actually, that vid was on one of the green trails so I can't say that I was working it all that hard. But it was a lot of fun skiing in all that powder that day. :D Next season is going to ROCK!!!!
