I twice led us to dead ends last night even though Greg insisted I was wrong and the map was right. The second time resulted in a little bushwhacking to get to where we were trying to go. Not really all that good of a story I guess. Actually I would have been better off not telling it and leaving it to your imagination...
HAHA, actually, I can picture it!
As long as it didn't end with twisted metal and broken bones.

To devalue my story even more; By bushwhacking I mean trudging through 10 feet of brush to get to the road that was clearly visible from where the 'trail' ended.

I was going to ask about that last night, but thought maybe I was missing something and it would come across as a stupid question:dunce:

You couldn't tell that we (I) were clearly lost? I thought that turning around, going the wrong direction and then hitting another dead end would have been clue enough ;) On the plus side I think we know where to go now..

I guess we should of asked that deer that we ran into for directions, it stood there long enough so it was probably willing to help.

B, I was going to give you and Greg all kinds of credit for being adventurous, and taking some virgin trail.

The version in my head is still amazing!!!

Guess I should have kept my mouth shut. I just didn't want anyone getting the wrong idea of my steeziness...

Don't forget to give Jeff credit too. He, apparently, is so used to back-country, bushwhacking type riding that he didn't even notice we were lost.. ;)

If I get into a routine on my rowing machine by September 1st I'll be happy. Summer is BUSY work wise for me.

I do hope to get to the beach to swim and ride waves a couple days a week, but any fitness gained in doing so is lost in the accompanying beer drinking

Getting my knee fixed should help some. If I'm lucky I can get a little mtn biking in this fall so I'm not a total weakling at the start of the season.

Doesn't the rehab whip you into shape?

My summer activity consists of working, doing chores, hanging out at the shore and spending time with my family. So I'll be out of shape when ski season starts just like every season.

Basketball, weights, stretching.

Later will be the running and the plyo.

I have not committed to the Mt Bike yet...nor have I dug out the roller blades. Both of these suck time away from life @ home...too much work and commute.

I get whatever exercise I can @ lunch when I'm @ work. I've tried balding @ work. I don't get as much out of blading (in the short amount of time available) as I do with the other forms of exercise.

Hopefully the 3000-5000 miles I put on my road bike this year will help. But I love to eat and my wife loves to cook, so that's a problem
I can't seam to lose that final 15 lbs or so. But I'll keep trying...
Last year I worked on my quads before the ski season and that made a huge difference than the year before when I didn't do much.

My plan is to bike through August, with some weight lifting thrown in on rainy days. All road stuff at the moment, but I think I might get a mountain bike mid-August. First up is a decent road bike (POS I have now is a POS.) Help pay for some ski trips too, assuming I actually get myself to ride into work on a somewhat regular basis. Starting September, I'm thinking I'll start some skiing-specific exercises - plyo, squats, etc. So yes, getting in shape and doing exercises for skiing should have a + impact on my skiing.

Road biking is purely to get in shape. It's relaxing and fun, but I suspect it is to mountain biking what x-country is to downhill.

Do it and join us on some rides! Tons of great places to mountain bike in the area.

What are you doing to stay fit during the summer?
How will it impact your ski season when its time to click in!?

My original plan for summer activity was supposed to set me up nicely for ski season next year.

1. started running, did my first 5K in early june
2. was getting back in to MTB
3. was playing 2-3 nights per week in competitive (don't laugh) softball leagues

that was going well until unlucky friday the 13th in june.

now i'm just sitting on the couch nursing a sore shoulder and reading about all the fun you guys are having.

i'm hopeful to get back to MTB and running in the fall as prep for ski season but won't be in nearly the same shape i'd hope to have been.
