Are we taking regionally or nationally?

Nationally I'd like to see Loveland open first. A-basin has been handing it to them in recent years.

So opening within days of each other is handing it to them?

Also Lovelands opening is about twice as long in terms of terrain, and no epic pass silliness with crowds.

You are right summer is not over - but the nights are getting longer, days are getting cooler, and kids will be back in school soon - for most we are closer to next winter then we are from last.
Agreed. I was just pointing out the absurdity of a major ski resort thinking that it was "news" that they are now offering lemonade slush. Somebody in marketing was having a slow day.

I brought home some scrap lumber today to use as kindling for the fireplace. It's time to start thinking about winter.

Feeling the Itch:

no I havn't been sleeping with any promiscuous women; i'm just reaching the height of my withdrawal from skiing. I'll set the scene:

I'm sitting here in my den at my computer wearing my new boots, pants, and jacket, with my goggles on, and watching ski dvd's. It's reached that point. Skiing has occupied almost all of my thought lately.

Even at night; my dreams of naked women and exotic sexual encounters of different varieties are now replaced by images of waist deep powder, tree skiing, and of course, massive bumps. My wife thinks i'm crazy, and I probably am. I mean wearing ski boots just because? Well I justify it by telling myself that the more I wear them now, the less break-in time will be required once I do go skiing, but really I just miss the feeling of having them on.

I don’t know what I'm gonna do. One of the only things I've found that alleviates my anxiety is to buy skiing-related items off the internet and have them delivered to me here at home. It's like Christmas when I get that package slip, and walk back up the driveway with my box/boxes. Even though I know exactly what is inside, I still tear into the packages and immediately try on/use whatever the item is. The downside is that I'm spending money that could go toward my mortgage...oh who am I kidding? Money that could go toward BEER!

So yeah...how is everyone else holding up? I wonder if the boss will let me wear my boots to work...

My wife says that your wife should wear ski boots to bed and and your fantasy will be answered!

Bet you remember who opened second in the NE & CO last year.

No idea who opened 2nd in NE. Guessing sugarbush?

Regardless, I think ski areas are trying to appeal to the masses, not skiers and riders who are browsing a ski forum in August

I do not think that opening first has significant benefit. Often the opening days are lost leaders and while there is a little PR bump after others open that goes away quickly.

Mishka just pulled my skis off the press. They're probably still warm like a chocolate chip cookie. First time I've even thought about next winter.

Well scored yesterday at the transfer station in town. In the swap shop found a nice looking almost unused (no scratches, no bottom wear at all) pair of size 7 Salomon Falcon 10 boots for my youngest son. 1 thing checked of the list...

Norcida Vagabonds in 177cm from the Start Haus Blem Sale. If you have binding they will drill to BSL. Ask for Philpug.

You will love them and owe me another beer!
