Time Skied: 9am to 4:45pm
Weather: Upper 30's and lower 40's, mild for this time of year, not much wind, no sun, very cloudy
Conditions: Machine groomed loose granular, soft mush, dirt, and ice pellets (so, yeah, everything you could imagine)

We had already planned this trip a few weeks ago, so we had to go through with it. Knowing that mother nature had dumped some rain on the mountains in the past week, we were expecting not so great conditions. And we were right. When we arrived at the mountain at about 8:30am, there was no one there. We parked in the main lot, very close to the lodge. Got an 8-hour lift ticket, and I maximized that. When I took my first ride up the high speed six, I thought "oh boy, this is going to be bad." There was no snow under the chair lift, and very minimal snow even on the trails. I could see DIRT patches on numerous trails (not good). I don't really know how to describe the conditions. It was a little icy in spots with ice pellets/granular, but in other spots is was mushy, soft snow. The main/connecting trails (ie. West Way and Left Bank) were just mounds of soft snow and moguls from everyone pushing it around. When you searched, you could find some decent trails/snow. Some of the less traveled blue/black and black trails were in better shape. You definitely got a good work out as you tried not to do a face plant (which I did not do). You also had to pick and choose which trails to go on and which paths you wanted to take down the trails for the best results. Upper and Lower Fox, Whitetail, and Wild Turkey were the best runs of the day. These trails had decent coverage and not that many people on them. There was literally no line on the Berkshire Express six pack ALL DAY. I went right onto it every single time. I was the only one on the chair numerous times too. This led me to get in at least 30 runs on the day (it was fun getting to go down so many times in one day!). I can understand why not that many people came, as word got out that the conditions weren't that great. Overall, a B- day.
I saw them digging on 180 in the afternoon. It looked like they were looking for a snow making pipe. I wonder if they had a leak and were trying to repair it. :dontknow:
