They made snow last night! Still only saying they will make it through the weekend. After that they will evaluated day by day. Bode Fest coming and they are trying to make it work. I'll be there Sunday. Can't say enough good things here.:snow:

I'm not sure Teachski and Loafer89 are the resident historians here. I remember one of the NY mounts made snow in mid to late April last year. Suprised the info is not on the Web site though.

When I was there on 4/13, I was told they hoped to make it to 4/30.

When I was there 2 weeks ago, I was shocked that they had groomed every run on the mountain. I've never been to an eastern resort that grooms every run in mid April.

Now they make snow at the end of April. Even more shocking.

BW is a unique ski area.

They are trying to capitalize on K-mart's problems. Bretton Woods is, without a doubt, a beginner or intermediate mountain. How does a mountain in that situation try to "broaden" its image so that it is more appealing to more skiers and riders of expert ability? By:

1. Hiring an international ski star to be your spokesperson.
2. Adding "more black diamond" terrain and telling folks about it.
3. Adding glades.
4. Staying open longer than anyone else so that the diehards get excited.

Not a bad move.

Bodes run and Deception bowl are the only two runs that can keep me entertained, but those would be easy blues at Whiteface and many other mtns around.

Snow quality and grooming are always top notch, even on the worst of days, so thatd be enough to keep me happy.

Well said the Adrion rider.
Mcintire's run looked good as well, but was closed when I was there. Bode's run looked like the steep pitch would be more fun without bumps. Well I like all my runs without bumps.:dunce:

I couldn't complain at all when I went to BW two weeks ago. Great coverage on the trails, groomed well, AND it was in the high sixties! I am hoping that they can hold out a little longer than this weekend!

Not a bad move.

Yes, the terrain is very mellow; I got pretty bored with it after 3 hours. But I did move around alot trying to find something ungroomed.

I think the best thing I took away is that they really care about their core clientele and passholders. It may not be my preference, but if BW regulars demand grooming, BW certainly aims to please.

And I just can't find anything wrong with that.

Bodes run is only steep for about 50 yards, but those are a steep 50 yards Id say. Most fun would be to straightline it then carry the speed through the bowl.

Another nice aspect of Bretton Woods is that every lift is a high speed quad. How long is the ride to the top of Bode's? Maybe a minute or two?

Not long at all. I would have loved to crank a turn on the steep pitch. This will never be my home mountain, but everytime I go I have fun. I have never seen a moose checking out the conditions anywhere else. JimG is right. They really cater to their guests. The lifties were friendly as well as the ticket clerks. Seems like they all like it there.

I hope they beat Killington. They were the first open and I want them to be the last to close so they can shove it in K's face.

I have been saying all along I thought they would beat K, just thought it would a couple weeks later. I wonder if Sugarbush being open with $10 dollar tickets will effect K even more. Let those who deserve the props get them.
