most folks were saying 'wasn't this incredible for october'-this wasn't incredible for october but for anytime. in 30 yrs at killington, saturday was one of my best days EVER. as opposed to mid-winter pow days, i thought the place was empty so the snow didn't get trashed as quickly. it was relaxed. i wasn't competing with 20 thousand of my best friends for the snow. many times i had a run all to myself. there was absolutely NO ice underneath. even on the best mid-winter powday, a trail like cascade for example, by mid-afternoon normally the snow gets pushed into big piles with ice in between. there was none of that this weekend. even in mid-afternoon i've never seen a run northstar that good. no ice and maybe a few avoidable thin spots. as close to western skiing as we get. even the epic 12/7/03 dump, while that was a lighter snow, i remember sometimes getting all the way down to base and hitting rock underneath. this was a heavier snow that held up. in addition to northstar, royal flush, east fall, esca-cas, ovation, superstar, skye lark were all great. if you could get to it you could ski it. definitely one of the great all time days.

Could not agree more. had a blast skiing saturday. Hit up the trees with Joshua here, and can't think of a day I was able to jump into the trees without scraping rocks all the way down.

nice sig Crock. i wish i got out saturday to sample the goods. sunday was a better than average day for me at the cat. saturday there was still pow around which is a definite requirement for best days ever speak. comparing sunday to what i would expect from a typical season, i'd put it in my top 20% for sure which is exceptional for october. can't even imagine what skiing saturday would have felt like. welcome to AZ.
