Date(s) Skied: 12/16

Resort or Ski Area: Killington

Conditions: Ice, Hardpack, Pack Powder, Powder

Trip Report:

I skied from 9 - 2:45PM. Legs were tired and back and left knee MCL were hurting. I started in the Glades. Lower East Fall, Rime, Reason, Upper Double Dipper, Ridge Run(soft bumps here) all skied well. First powder (about 3" I know lame) was to be had on Powerline. I was third down from what it looked liked. Then went over to Snowdon, Great bear was okay. There was sof bumps but very thin and the water bar at the bottom was interesting. Chute was good. I skied under the Snowdon triple next and the guns were going. Mouse trap was groomed and only thin bumps on the right.
Headed back to the peak, skied Cascade Headwall which was powder and soft bumps and continued all the way down. Upper Cascade was great with soft bumps. Lower Cascade had some big bumps with various conditions. This is where the back comes in. I took a big compression and jarred the vertebrate that I hurt Monday wiping out on my driveway. Skied well though. Upper downdraft was soft. I thought about poaching lower Downdraft and Double Dipper but did not. Escapade skied very well all soft until the end. I then headed over to the Superstar lift. I skied Skyehawk Headwall. This was thin and this is where I twealed the MCL. I tried avoiding a rock that was exposed and I released out of my right ski. I tried to recover on one ski but the dug in the snow some how and had a twisting ejection on the left ski. Sore but should be okay. I have a lot experience with the right knee on this. Skyehawk and Skylark were both very firm, edgebale but not a lot of fun. There was better stuff on the peak. I decided to poach Julio which good and bad. It was powder with crust under and it took a while to back over to the Gondi. Poached Spillway too, which was great. It should be open. I headed back over to some woods off the peak that was skiing awesome. ROTD. I skied this about 5 times. Last run, was from the top down GN to Highline(groomed and very hard). BTW, I poached RF too. It was pretty good, but not the woods.

Sounds like a good day midweek. Nice powder I'm a bit jealous. Looking forward to 12/18-12/19 @ Cannon.

I'll be at Cannon for birthday turns 12/20. Hopefully the back and knee feels better. They are both tightening up. More MOTRIN 1600mg.

It's not the stomach you have to worry about, it's the kidneys and liver!

Yeah, I think I read somewhere that Acetaminophen is one of the leading causes of acute liver failure. People think it's harmless. Not sure if Ibuprofen is as dangerous or not.

My wife hurt her back a while ago, and she had good luck with Aleve. One pill reduced the pain for a long time. But the best bet is just ice and rest in my book.

Both can have same liver problem. Motrin is no as bad though. But that is daily use. I think it is worse if you drink too. Just needed for that day. Taking about 2 a day now. Much better

Nice woods shots! Tim and I hit some near the entrance to the Canyon Quad. Forgive my lack of confidence with trail names here, it's been 20+years since I have been to Killington :)

Either way, we jammed through a very short section that was past that north ridge triple lift (closed) where it turns very sharp right to the quad. Litterally right at that turn is some tree skiing and a couple feet over was a diamond run, I think it was spillway, we hit that too of course.

Anyhow, nice trail report and for the most part our run yesterday was very similiar in conditions. Some cold... cold... and ice on some hills.. overall. good stuff was found and hit though :)
