Date(s) Skied: 12/16 and 17

Resort or Ski Area: Killington

Conditions: Warm... mashed potatoes and packed powder up high. Windy on sun.

Trip Report: My cousin and I left LI on Sat. morning at 3:30 a.m. and headed up to K.

After my cousin got a speeding ticket in Ludlow we arrived at K, got ready and was on the lift at 10am.

We started on the Snowdon Triple and warmed up on Bunny buster, mouse trap etc. Big fun hero bumps on mouse trap which we did a few times before going over to the North ridge triple due to the LARGE amount of people skiing snowdon Mt.

The snow changed to packed powder on rime and powerline due to the colder temps up higher. Powerline is a blast and reminds me of misery whip at the loaf (but not as much pitch.)

This area was also packed with people and realized that K was just really busy today. We skied off the ridge triple until we took a break around 1. Inside the base lodge I ran into a bunch of Meatheads. Very cool guys!! After lunch we headed back to the North ridge triple to check out east fall....the trail of the day! Nice huge bumps but lots of people so we only skied it 2 times before heading back over to the snowdon triple and skied highline, mouse trap before ending the day around 4pm.

Sunday
We hoped the crowds were going to be lighter on Sunday but it turned out to be about the same. Lots of wind but still very warm. We got on the snowdon triple at 8:30 and headed over to the North ridge triple to check out east fall. Nice big bumps but starting to look a bit thin. We skied that run for an hour and then headed to powerline. Nothing really different to report from sat.

Things are starting to look thin and as you all know we need some cold temps and storms soon or this is going to get real ugly. Pics will be added to the gallery.

A few shots of Powerline:

Thanks for the report and the pics, Allskiing. Was at K last Saturday and spent my time on most of the trails you mentioned so you can say I was part of the crowd up there. The upper portion of Bunnybuster was closed part of the day on Saturday for a master's ski competition. They opened it up in the afternoon but the middle of the trail was pretty chopped up. Hope they don't close it up every Saturday though because I enjoy that part of the trail. Tried to make a go of Powerline but it seemed to be closed when I got there late Saturday afternoon and didn't want to duck a rope. Besides, it's just my second day out this season and I need to get the feeling back in my legs. I agree that we need a big dump otherwise we're in trouble.

Think snow!

Nice pics of Powerline, Allskiing. You missed me by a day. Was there on Friday....Powerline was nice. Ms. TB and I opted for Pico to dodge the crowds....glad we did.

Allskiing, to lazy to write my own report, so hope you don't mind me cutting into yours :)
Me and V did Killington on Saturday, after the the leg burner day at Hunter on Friday, we were pretty much shot. The crowds at K got to be too much for us by about 11. Last run V fell and bruised herself up as a result Sunday I was on my own.

Sunday got on the chair by 7:59 found a nice empty chute, did that a couple of times really pleasant considering the shape of my legs. Then cut across to the North Ridge area where it was much more crowded. Did a couple of runs down Rime, last one went down Lower East Fall, all pleasant but already starting to soften and bump up from the crowds. Cut across to the Superstar Quad, came down Superstar headwall, that's always fun regardless of conditions. Then cut across to Sky/Bitter, where I ran into Roark. We went back over to the Glades area, which now softened up quite a bit, cut across to the Chute, real soft. My legs couldn't take anymore and I called it a day. Sorry Roark, hope to catch you next time.

Trailboss, tried calling you both days in the morning, so if you see a strange number, that's me :)

i'll join the party also ... saturday was a great spring day with bumps galore ... too bad it's the week before christmas. we thought highline was the run of the day. a little dirt getting there but worth it. some pretty good bump lines. and if you like dirty snow, lower skye lark was kind of fun as well. however by 9:30 that area was a crowded mess. before the k1 started running saturday morning (it was down for most of the morning because allegedly a transformer got hit by lightning), it was nice & quiet up in the north ridge & east fall. though they've ruined powerline, it was fun nonetheless. the whales creating some interesting dropoffs. after lunch another story east fall was a zoo. nice bumps but try holding your line without someone wandering into it. like allskiing said, mouse trap had some very user friendly bumplines. first full ski day of the season so it must have been good.

What do you mean Bob? I thought everybody got up at 3:00 am to go skiing

The dedication is impressive. Do what ya gotta do...

Powerline looks like fun - some funky lines in there though.
