No amount of hope, hype, spin, positive attitude, or minor snowmaking upgrades is going to help them get open.

Killington will open sometime between Late October and Early December, weather and conditions permitting.

Having to blow 80 to 100 acre feet of snow, at as low as 2600ft elevation is always going to hold them back until they change to an upper mountain only strategy.

It's all just lip service...

I hope not. I booked a stay with the Family for Thanksgiving.

I wouldn't worry about it. They managed to get open T-Day weekend in 2006 and that was as dismal a start to a ski season as they come.

yeah HS is taking the dimmest view possible. seems they've lucked out most t-day weekends at least at k. i can only remember one year during the truckin' era that was a disaster with rime and maybe east glade being the only open runs. we've had maybe two years where they actually closed for a few days within a week or so of t-day.

Yes, they BARELY opened for the season on Thanksgiving Day 2006.............though the snow and skiing was excellent. It was mobbed that weekend. Then IIRC, they shut down for a day or two a week later.

IF they got similar weather to that which pushed them to 3 trails on the glades triple back in the day, they wouldn't be open with their current strategy. I maintain that it's entirely possible they will hit a warm rainy Novemeber one of these years, and either not open until December, or open earlier but have to close for Thanksgiving......

.....remember that even though they opened Nov. 2nd last year (not even that early), they closed for the next two weekends.......

Yep. Obviously weather-dependent. Although I would say by late November is a safe bet. It would have to be one helluva crappy fall to have to wait until early December. Possible, I guess, but you're just spinning to the negative side.
What else is new... HS is on the KZone top 10 whiner list... He's not #1 though. JerseyGuy is #1. The gap between JG and #2 is like the gap between Tiger and Phil!

Hmm. I notice that POWDR allowed Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard to blow snow and open 2nd this year, perhaps they have a new philosophy? Maybe that bodes well for Killington too.

Not great this week, but looks to improve next week (if you choose to believe it). I love the forecast for the 26th: "Not as cool" despite the forecasted temps being cooler than the day before....

Anyway, maybe snow making resumes next Tuesday? Again, these are in town temps. Hoping they're open on the 30th. I'll give it a go if they are.

The quick glance I just took at the Weather.com 10-day doesn't look good for blowing lower Bunny Buster. I see above freezing and humid for much of the time period. I'd be pretty surprised if they made November 1 based on what I see. Of course, those weather forecasts are notoriously unreliable.

Now for the 27th: "Morning snow; cloudy, warmer" while the temps are forecasted to be cooler than the days before it....

Anyway, hope next week cools down...

Just to add to this...

From NOAA:

"ENHANCED ODDS FOR BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND ABOVE MEDIAN PRECIPITATION ARE
FAVORED ACROSS MUCH OF THE EAST, WITH GREATER ODDS FOR WARMER THAN NORMAL
TEMPERATURES FAVORED ACROSS THE WEST COAST."

The nights look cold next week, but the days are in the low 40's. Will they blow? The rain kills it though.
