I need to ask, what is it with the banner ad for Killington's Stash? There's a headless gorilla riding a horse holding some's head, I don't get it. I want to click on it and learn more about 'The Stash', but it seems like they're gearing for a dumbed down crowd. Sorry if I sound like a snob but that ad does nothing for me.

Now the Mount Snow ad with the snow fans looks really cool and grabs my attention mainly because of what it's selling.... SNOW!! I've clicked on that ad even though I have never been to Mount Snow and probably won't this season.

What are your thoughts?

It is a reference to Icabaad Crane and the Headless Horseman (if I spelled that correctly).

I don't as well. It is probably a Burton thing. I'm surprised someone hasn't been offended by it yet or has started a campaign against it yet.

In the sad, sad world of American marketing, what really mattered is that it got your attention. Like it or not, you have had their name reinforced in your psyche... :)

I was in Eastern Europe right after the Berlin wall fell and the local TV stations ditched all the Moscow shows and put on American Soap operas. My cousins simply could not understand what purpose TV commercials served. Understandable because the people had no choice just about anything. You want to ski? Go to that hill when Igor decides to fire up the rope tow. Everyone shares their equipment, whether it fits or not. Your "choice" is that you don't have to go.

I hereby convene the first organizational meeting of the Alpine Zone Society for the Prevention of Decapitation of Gorilla Suits and the Promotion of Relevance in Ski Advertising.

First order of business for the AZSPDGSPRSA is to come up with a better name.

Obviously, just from the fact that this thread was started...the ad is very successful in it's intent.

True, but, I still want to know the relevance to skiing/riding. Plus I don't want to go there because the ad is so dumb.. as I said at the first post, not trying to be a snob, I think they could've marketed 'The Stash' much much much better to gain the interest of everyone.

I doubt the target demographic is this group ;)
