Resort or Ski Area: killington

Conditions: saturday sunny hi near 80. sunday clouds, fog hi 60.

Trip Report: bumps returned to k this weekend with minimal grooming. thought saturday was one of great days of the season. sunburn & bikini alert high. started out at 8:30 down a groomed east fall just to get our legs. that was it for groomers. spent most of the day running the canyon quad. best bumps on escapade, upper catwalk, dipper woods, skiers left lower cascade and upper downdraft. later switched operations to the supe quad. skye hawk was monstrous. middle ovation had nice bumps a little spaced. same with lower skye lark. lower supe had great lines both skiers right & left. they had groomed the middle. finished off on ol, which as it's been since it closed was the rotd.

sunday was a different story. got there a little later to find the mtn t-t-b in clouds & fog. temps in upper 50's so we figured the mtn would still ski fine. wrong ... did a couple shots in the canyon and things were very set up down to the ice base in spots. complicated by lack of vis, skiing was rough. took a break on the deck with ty. fog lifted in the supe area so we did a few runs there. things were starting to soften particularly the lower supe skiers right line giving us hope for the afternoon. after lunch did a bunch of downdrafts & escapade/cascade before heading over to bear. different world. sunshine and 10 degrees warmer. lingered for quite a while taking it all in. ol absolutely gorgeous corn. course was perfection. savored every turn. finished off on supe running skye hawk>supe which skied great.

canyon looks to be done. with the weather this week doubt that other than east fall, nothing will survive. runout will be toast. wouldn't be surprised if it was only supe for closing weekend.

doubt i'll be up for the close next saturday so this could be it for me. what an awesome way to end a great season.
