....Devils Advocate...cut the new owners some slack and give them a chance.....lol

I think Powdr needs much more than one advocate for them....

Seriously, they've decided that they'll close KBL midweek, which is the busiest lodge at K, both midweek and weekends it is always filled.

The only positive thing I've seen so far is that the parks are gone from Bear Claw and Wildfire, which isn't really a major change since they didn't bother building them last year.

Is it really always filled during the midweek? How many days does a HS kid from Jersey ski during the midweek?

Seriously, as you know they announced in the beginning that they won't improve the infrastucture until they make a profit. Painful for kmart regulars like yourself for sure, painful for the employees that got laid off over the summer, painful for the lifetime pass holders, painful for parents with the new kids program prices....hell, it's a house of pain from alot of perspectives. I hope in a couple of years things will be diferent.....that's all you can hope for, unfortunately.

I'm starting to think that Powdr is the best thing to happen for Mt Snow, Okemo and Sugarbush. Maybe I'm reading the website wrong but it looks like kmart is going to charge $180/day for some of the kid's programs...the Bush charges $104

I am going to go way out on a limb here and predict that if kmart has the weather they will open before 11/15. I mean they did say soon......

Probably about 20-25?...my breaks are never in sync with most other schools, and I take some days off.

I don't think anything they've done is better for anyone, except maybe their short-term profit, but I can understand trying to cut costs a bit..(sort of).

Nonetheless, the decision to not serve food in KBL midweek is a very bad one.. The lodges are probably all close in costs to operate per day, why not serve food in the easily accessible lodge (KBL), and let people bring lunch to the peak if they want to eat there.

The peak will not be crowded midweek, and it's a bit of a pain to get to, as the only way is by taking the K-1. KBL sits right in the middle, is easily accessible from Skye Peak/Superstar, Snowdon, K-peak and Rams Head, and is also where many people park.

Yup, there will be even more families leaving...

Possibly, but if that's the case, everyone else will be open too...I don't think they'll be ahead of anyone else.

PICO will be closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays of non-holiday weeks. You will be able to take your PICO pass to Killington on those days and get a half priced ticket.

During holiday weeks - PICO WILL be open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Powdr is NOT offering any discounted tickets to any of the Ski Councils this year either.

20-25 midweek days for a high schooler? damn, i wish i went to your school.

As far as closing KBL midweek is concerned, i think it stinks. While I totally disagree and will say it isnt crowded in the least bit midweek, it still is the main lodge.

Eh, could be done.

7 Days for Christmas/New Years, 1 for MLK, 5 for winter break, 6 for spring break = 19... then if you add Thanksgiving, you're up to 21, and a couple of "sick" days...

Of course, you would have to ski every vacation day you had to do that plus some.

I too think closing the KBL midweek stinks though.

Does the midweek closing include the vacation weeks though?

Weekend skiing isn't that bad...Saturdays can be uber busy but the crowds arrive late on Sundays and leave early...plus some weekends bad weather is predicted but never materializes which scares away all the Tom Dick and Harrys....I just like to ski..weekend..or weekday...
