20-25 midweek days for a high schooler? damn, i wish i went to your school.

All the breaks, plus I think 9 or 10 "sick" days....but, I get good grades, and I work all summer, so my parents don't mind letting me miss school.

As far as closing KBL midweek is concerned, i think it stinks. While I totally disagree and will say it isnt crowded in the least bit midweek, it still is the main lodge.

The mountain itself isn't crowded midweek...but KBL is the most crowded lodge midweek, and Rams Head is probably the most crowded on the weekends.

Does the midweek closing include the vacation weeks though?

No, it says that KBL, Bear, and Skyeship Base are open Friday-Sunday and Holidays.

We agree totally on this point too GSS.

Third - cut them some slack. Let them get a season under their belt and some more concrete future plans before they get trashed.

Just because they close a base lodge midweek non-holiday doesn't mean it's the end of the world.

The cafeterias are closed in the base lodges midweek. You can still boot up and brown bag your lunch there.

I would agree, but if they were really going with that strategy, they would keep things status quo rather than implement the changes that they have.

Really, why should we believe what they've been saying, their decisions are speaking for themselves:

Season shortened, barring some huge snowstorm in October, or 10 degree weather in April, it will be November 16th (at the earliest), to April 13th.

Prices raised across the board, with no decent discounts on anything. (Even the CT ski council tickets are $50).

Hugely hiked rates for lessons.

EDIT: Pico not open Tuesday-Wednesday

Firing of much of the experienced staff...you decide the reason.

No major improvements at the mountain, only really about $1m over what ASC was spending I believe, which is no where enough money to even fix what had deteriorated under ASC, much less significantly improve anything (except bathrooms of course...).

Just because they close a base lodge midweek non-holiday doesn't mean it's the end of the world.

You're right, but it's yet another decision that looks like it's based on numbers on a spreadsheet, and not considering the effects it has on the people who are providing their income.

Also, the lodge at Bear was open midweek last year too, except for the very end of the season, and it will not be this year.

Powdr is NOT offering any discounted tickets to any of the Ski Councils this year either.

wow,,,the house of pain gained another room. This is getting way beyond any kind of business sense. One thing is for sure the skiing experience will be alot better with the lower crowds they will have this season, I guess that's the overall goal. Kinda makes the KBL problem moot, also.

The Bush works with both the NJ Ski Council and the Conn Ski Council.....looking forward to seeing you up here this winter. :D

I'm starting to think that Powdr is the best thing to happen for Mt Snow, Okemo and Sugarbush. Maybe I'm reading the website wrong but it looks like kmart is going to charge $180/day for some of the kid's programs...the Bush charges $104

I am going to go way out on a limb here and predict that if kmart has the weather they will open before 11/15. I mean they did say soon......

It is a bit of a increase but one thing I really like is that they are only allowing 5 kids per class and 3 kids for the younger classes. More money but your getting a better product.
