.....well 2knees and crew were just there and reported the place flat as a pancake.

It seems to me that they talked up their seeding program a fair bit pre-season. I haven't read much about them.
They got f'd a little bit with the seeding. Finally got 100% open, seeded Vertigo, then rain, then no snow.

Killington isn't Jay, Stowe, or SB. They need storm systems for snowfall, no lake effect.
Given the lack of natural to work with, I've actually been fairly impressed with the bumps over the last month. Almost constantly blowing somewhere, and letting it bump up a bit. Last weekend they blew Needle's and Skyeburst. Needle's was awesome on Saturday, but set up hard by 3. Skyeburst was pretty good Sunday if you don't mind skiing under the guns.. I might even be tempted to pay for Sunday this weekend if I get good reports out of the snowmaking effort on OL.

I don't entirely agree with their ops plan. I'd love to see them just let Downdraft, Ovation, and Vertigo go ungrooomed minus an initial flattening of snowmaking whales (given that they clearly aren't going to adjust the guns' position every few hours.) But they've had about 10" of natural in the last month. Even if they left the entire place ungroomed, you wouldn't be able to find good bumps.

Bump trails groomed out and re-seeded.

Okemo has groomed out their bump trails and have re-seeded them this past week. The skiing their was just short of amazing. Say what you want about the terrain they have, but the surface is awesome. Some spots have been hit by wind, but again i would say they lay down a great surface that holds up all day. To bad the K has the fire power to make snow, but to bad they can't maintain it and make seeded bump runs.

Saw nice looking bumps on Blackout yesterday and it looked like they were bombing Sel's with snow making.

Couldnt even walk without massive pain in there so instead of wasting 82 bucks to ski one run, i drove home......:( effin sucks being old and broken. it looked so damn good.

Too late now, and not sure it's still the case, but used to be you could get you're money back within one hour of ticket purchase. Hope it's not serious with the knee.

Edit: Just found it on their site:

If you have a regular price full-day or multi-day lift ticket and are not satisfied with our snow surface conditions, you may exchange your ticket by 10:00 a.m. for a voucher valid for a return visit during the remainder of the current season. Express cards, season passes and discount/promotional tickets are not eligible for a Snow Guarantee as specified on the lift ticket. Snow Guarantee vouchers are non-transferable, non-refundable and carry no cash value. Vouchers will not be extended beyond the season in which they were issued.

Bottom line, conditions were not good for your knee.

Hey old man, that sucks. Is this something that corrects itself after a few days, or is it something new?

(I mean your knee pain....not being old.)

nothing new or serious. just 3 days of skiing hardpack gets to it. actually, it wasnt a big deal until skiing ol 5 times on friday. getting to the course was super painful as it was sideways scraping just to get to the top.

it looked sick in the sun though, hardest thing to do was to get back in the car and leave.

How did you feel on Friday morning after the day at MRG we had? I was definitely sore, like I always am after I ski Mad River.

Too bad you weren't there today. Guns on OL and Conclusion all day, with some nice bumps building up on OL, (I'm not a good judge of how good or bad the lines are, just that the bumps were large, soft, and I had a nice rhythm going.) Didn't hit it, but Superstar seemed to be almost all bumps on the lower section.

Bittersweet had some starting, but that'll have to be mowed down for the masses.

It's not hard to cover trails that are flatter than a 2 X 4. All mountains with low angle runs tend to have better cover than those with more pitch. That said, I would rate the amount of snow/terrain Okemo covers as top notch, as for the quality of snow, it leaves a lot to be desired. It's usually polished like a cueball by noon from the masses.
