Anyone going to be up at either place on Friday?

Making a last ditch attempt at skiing a few more bumps before the season is over (for me at least).

It doesn't look like Killington is going to be running the K1 until Saturday. I'd go to Sugarbush.

Good to know. Thanks for the heads up.

Nice! I'm shooting to be there around 12. I'll keep an eye out for you. Throw snow in my face if you see me.

Looks like a good variety of trails open.

Friday and Saturday are going to be awesome days. Get in the car and go to either! Hope you come here, though! Bring your T-shirts, shades and lotion!

for better conditions, or coverage

Sugarbush had a little less coverage on some of the runouts, more so in the Heaven's Gate area down to the base. Excellent on the upper heaven's gate trails. The website says Steins was groomed early this week, and has excellent coverage as well. Last year the traverse to Spring Fling got sketchy and this may happen during this warm weekend, but so far it is edge to edge. Ripcord and Organ Grinder are solidly bumped up. Steins was reported as re-bumped, but I'd guess less so. Jester and Snowball round out the intermediate trails. 2 burgers and a beer on the patio: 8.75

Killington will have the entire canyon. Everything was groomed, so only bumps are Escapade, athough slash and crash big soft piles will form fast in this warmth. Superstar gets the middle groomed regularly, with bumps on both edges on the lower pitch. Good cover on Skylark and Bittersweet. The glades area is good, but the chair may not run, still accesible from the canyon quad if you don't mind doing East Fall. The runout from the canyon is going fast. Great Northern might last half the weekend. 2 burgers and a beer: $18.

The snow quality will be similar. I'd give a slight edge to Sugarbush as I don't remember much ice under the corn (up high), and it will be less crowded. Killington has a lot of spots of ice, especially center Superstar and Double Dipper. More open holes at Sugarbush, but only on connectors, not the main trails.

I was at the Bush last Thursday. I'd go there. I'd be there right now if I could.

According to the websites......

Killington:
Trails open - 11
Trails groomed - 8

Sugarbush:
Trails open - 24
Trails groomed - 0

I'll bet it's pretty firm right now though. The groomers would probably be the way to go today.

I read Stein's is re-bumping this week too. This is the lift to be riding this weekend:

I hate to burst your bubble but in fairness and honestly the Bush has been grooming everyday except Tuesday as it rained Monday night, too wet to groom.

Another chilly wet day, rain/snow at the base, 3-5" of new snow on the upper mountain, high's in the 30's up there today.

My bubble is intact. I'm still thinking Sugarbush is the better option for Friday. The thought of skiing Superstar all day isn't very appealing to me.

Friday forecast is calling for 52 at the summit/63 at the base so things should soften up.

Can't argue with that. :D Course the Bush is doing little grooming the bump trails many of you guys are coming up here for. I just felt your post gave the impression that the Bush doesn't groom at all right now.

The clouds were starting to break up as I was leaving at about 6PM and it will be in the 20's again tonight. As you mentioned it should start softening up abit tomorrow and really soften up Sat/Sun. The next 3 days should be awesome!

Haven't been to Killington in years, but was skiing the bush, yesterday.

Stein's was groomed last week, but do not expect it to be flat. That was last week. The bumps at the entrance are almost as big as they were before grooming. About 2 lines on the left, which were never groomed are... as big as they were before the grooming.

The center and right side bumps are coming back fast, but they are soft, sweet bumps!

The bottom sections of Lower Jester and Lower Organgrinder are washed out. The way down is across the Valley House Traverse, Stein's or Snowball, and then Coffee Run or Spring Fling.

Off the top, Organgrinder and Ripcord are skiing well, tho the very last part of Lower Ripcord is going away.

Murphy's Glades, Birdland Lower Jester and Lower Organgrinder are open to Heaven's Gate Traverse. The snow is really nice, on them.

Snowball has one sketchy area, with a few ways thru.

Lower Snowball had not been groomed, but was a really sweet corn, with small, blue box bumps.

Spring Fling is a . . . spring fling! :spread:

There is some really nice skiing up here. I sure hope my skis don't take me out there again Friday... and Saturday... and Sunday... and. . . ? ;-)
