Seriously, what incompetent nutjob is scheduling these events....? Even Wachusett's pond skim is a week later.

In other unrelated news, they are changing their name to Freezetodeathton for next season.

I come up with threads that aren't complete crap.

There's also a pretty large difference between making a real, valid criticism about an event that has been chronicly mishandled over the last half dozen years, vs. your thread complaining about people standing in lift lines waiting for people. (SERIOUSLY?)

Totally agree. Why didn't they go and send a nice letter to god, and have him schedule favorable weather for them? I mean this event has been planned out on their calender for months now, why didn't they just send that letter?

Pond skimming is typically scheduled for one of the last weekends of a resort's operation, because it's warm and the snow is melting. Should be at the end of April at the very least, if not early May. KBL is at ~2550ft....it's colder than say, Mountain Creek.

While not trying to be so extreme as him I have to agree with HS, pond skimming should be towards the end of April.

I think you should also post this thread at TRG as there are likely hundreds of pond skimmers that would care on that forum.

I've taken the liberty of sharing this thread with the pond skimming listserv.

I go up to the Magic Mountain area every year over Memorial Day weekend to do some cycling and hiking. It's usually been pretty chilly then too. i.e., we're not (usually) cycling and hiking in t-shirts and shorts. Even over Memorial Day there's no guarantee that falling into a big pond of icy cold water is going to feel good. And yes, I have woken on Memorial Day to see snow on the top half of Magic Mountain.

That said, from early April on through May, you can get anything. Yesterday and today have been in the 50's in Vermont. Probably would have been pretty good days to run pond skims. 24 hours later... not so much.
