From the Drift email today:

NEW Skye Peak Express Opens Friday!
Six months of hard work is about to pay
off as the New Skye Peak Express opens on Friday, providing access to some of Killington’s best uninterrupted terrain and The Stash terrain park. Moving at more than 1,400 feet per minute, the Skye Peak Express will deliver you from the base of Bear Mountain to the top of Skye Peak in less than
five minutes!

This has got to be a typo. I've never heard of a HSQ moving at faster than 1,200 ft/min, and those are fairly rare. Fastest at K know of is the Skye gondi at 1,200 ft/min (supposedly) The other detaches are at 800 ft/min to 1,100 ft/min.

1,400 ft/ would make the ride roughly 3.5 minutes, not the 5 minutes Killington has been saying previously (~1000 ft/min).

What's up?

Eff that! If it's not running at at least 1400 FPM, as advertised, then I'm not using it. As a matter of fact I'm gonna boycott the whole place over that blatant false advertising!

Please let us know the results ASAP!!!

No, I'm not aware of any chairlift construction capable of more than 1200fpm. There are other lift systems capable of much more (funitel, funifor, tram, etc.). I think they meant 1400' vert.

If it were 1400fpm, there would have been a lot more hype... it would be the fastest detachable chair in the world. I would think Killington would want to milk that for all it's worth.

It's actually not a lift at all. That would be too slow. It's more like a transporter much like the one installed on the Starship Enterprise. You get in the line and say "beam me up spinmaster K" and you are instantly transported to the top of "the stash."

That's what I've been waiting for! Maybe now I can start skiing again, instead of hanging around the lodge for 8 hours with my ski boots on pretending that I just got off the slopes. Chair lifts scare me and the scum bags that are typically riding them freak me out so I stay off the chairs.

Come back to K. I'll protect you from the chairlift freaks. Come on back.

OMG--say it isn't so. So unlike Killington to put something out there that isn't so
